Up to 200 doctors, nurses, firefighters, prison officers, police officers, forensic scientists and binmen say they have developed serious physical and mental health problems after injections essential for their work over the past 10 years. All have given up their jobs and some are now 60 per cent disabled.
Last night it emerged they are to miss out on payouts, prompting furore among campaigners. More than 150 MPs have lent their support to demands for a better deal for the victims.
Olivia Price, of the Vaccine Victim Support Group, said: “These people have given their lives in the service of looking after others and this is how they’re repaid. They’ve lost their careers and are a burden to their families. It is very degrading.”
Frontline health workers, social workers, prison officers and binmen have to be vaccinated against hepatitis B as a condition of their employment.
This is to protect them from contracting potentially fatal conditions from infected blood through needle injuries or physical assaults.
Although they are not legally forced to have the vaccinations, without them they are not allowed to work.
Experts believe the injections caused the health problems, which include chronic fatigue, muscle pain, weakness and cognitive problems, because illnesses developed soon after vaccination. In one case Steve Robinson, a previously fit 43-year-old father of three, was vaccinated six years ago against hepatitis A, B and polio, tetanus and diphtheria as part of his work as a forensic specialist.
Two days later he became ill and developed muscle weakness and chronic fatigue. Mr Robinson, from Morpeth, Northumberland, is now 60 per cent disabled, which an industrial injuries tribunal put down to the vaccinations.

UK: Healthy children below age of five to get swine flu jab

Healthy children aged under five are to be given the swine flu jab, the Government has confirmed.
Currently people in priority groups – including young children with asthma or diabetes – are being vaccinated.
But the programme will now be rolled out to children with no underlying health issues, aged over six months and under five.
The UK-wide policy was officially confirmed by the Scottish Government today ahead of a similar announcement in England, expected later.
Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish Health Secretary, said: “I am able to announce today that the next group in the population that will be vaccinated, or offered vaccination, is children aged over six months and under five years.”

It took the strength of two sheriff’s deputies to keep a middle schooler still enough to receive a shot of the swine flu, or H1N1, vaccine at a clinic.
During a regular Wheeling-Ohio County Health Board meeting Tuesday, health department Administrator Howard Gamble told board members about the student’s attempt to flee Wheeling Middle School during a vaccination clinic held there last Friday.
He noted the boy’s mother could not bear to watch the scene and left the gymnasium. Out of apparent fear of receiving the injection, the student ran out of the building. The school’s resource officer, Ohio County Sheriff’s Deputy John Haglock, coaxed the boy back inside. Once at the shot station, however, Haglock apparently needed some help keeping the boy still, and another deputy assisted.
“He tried to run. I looked over and saw two sheriff’s deputies holding a kid down,” Gamble said. “Mom took off, she couldn’t take it. You had one nurse with the needle, two deputies holding him down, one nurse is grabbing his hands – because that’s what they want to do, to go after the needle. And that’s the last thing you want.”
Gamble said as soon as the nurse gave the boy his injection and told him he was done, he hopped up like nothing had happened.
“For the most part they go very easy. As far as the shots, every once in awhile you have to hold down one or two – but that’s why mom is there or dad is there,” Gamble said.
He added after the meeting that Friday’s incident was the only time Ohio County deputies have held a student during a shot.
“They’re mostly there for parking and directions. They also know the kids. … They were our first line of contact when setting up the clinics,” Gamble said.
Neither Sheriff Pat Butler nor Haglock could be reached for comment. A sheriff’s department official said Haglock is on vacation for the next two weeks.
During a clinic Tuesday at Bridge Street Middle School, similar scenes took place – though not quite as dramatic and not involving officers of the law. A couple sets of parents could be seen keeping their children from wiggling away while a nurse quickly administered the vaccine.
Ten-year-old Austin Price, the son of Jennifer and Josh Price, decided to take the shot standing up and with no assistance from his mom or dad. He even smiled for a photograph.
And on a scale of 1-10, how painful was the shot?
A “4,” he answered.
By 7:30 p.m., 391 students from Bridge Street and Elm Grove and Middle Creek elementary schools had been vaccinated. Gamble expected that by the clinic’s end at 8 p.m., more than 400 would have received the inoculation.

‘Poisoning attempt’ charges filed against French H1N1 campaign

In what is being seen as the first of many such actions to come, nine individuals have filed formal charges claiming that the H1N1 campaign is a deliberate attempt to poison the French population.
These charges, which were filed yesterday, could not come at a more inopportune moment for the government and health specialists. The vaccination campaign got underway last Tuesday in a climate of national skepticism as to the vaccine’s safety and efficiency, and this news will surely boost the morale of the increasing number of anti-vaccine lobbyists who are beginning to organize their resistance to any attempt to vaccinate the population against H1N1.
Nine inhabitants of the Isére region of France are cited as joint plaintiffs in the case, including a health sector worker, a teacher and a radio talk show host. They met each other at various public meetings held to denounce the vaccine’s alleged health risks.
The charges take the form of a ‘plainte contre X’ which means that the perpetrator of an alleged crime or felony is not known, or is not named, in the charge sheet. This is a commonly used manner of filing complaints in France, particularly where the charges relate to supposed government implication in alleged breaches of the law. In cases where those trials proceed after prior examination of the facts, the specific persons or organizations concerned are designated and charged as the trial proceeds.
Jean-Pierre Joseph, the plaintiffs’ lawyer, describes the vaccination campaign as “A veritable attempt to poison.” He confirmed that the charges were filed at the High Court in Grenoble before the court’s senior examining magistrate. He said other court cases involving other plaintiffs would begin soon
The various charges filed included one of “Attempting to administer substances…of a nature which could result in death.”
“The aim is to put a stop to what we consider to be an act of poisoning,” according to Joseph. “The interest of this action is that people in France now have a means by which to express their concern as citizens by saying publicly “We are aware that the vaccination campaign is a swindle.”
Similar court actions are planned in other areas of the Isére, as well as in Paris, Pau and Nantes, and several hundred vaccine opponents are beginning to organize themselves on the internet with a view to filing class action charges.
The government and health authorities are currently battling to persuade people to get vaccinated against increasingly difficult odds. Opposition to the campaign has been increasing steadily, and various polls taken over the last few days put the figure for those who do not intend to get vaccinated as high as 70 percent.
Their task is being made even more arduous by the fact that while authorities believe on the one hand that vaccination is essential despite negative public reaction, the French have traditionally proved to be very quick to condemn and file charges in cases where not enough was said to be done to prevent other medical mishaps such as the Mad Cow outbreak and an AIDS contamination case, in which several people died and many more became HIV positive after receiving AIDS-contaminated blood transfusions in hospitals.
That signifies that the authorities have very little room to maneuver and are more or less obliged to continue the campaign in order to avoid similar charges should they decide or be forced to abandon the campaign and high numbers of people die as a result of not being vaccinated.

As European governments forge ahead with mass swine flu vaccination programs, reports out of Hungary and Sweden suggest that some people have died shortly after taking the H1N1 vaccine.
The Budapest Times is reporting that a 64-year-old woman has died just two days after receiving the H1N1 shot.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine if there is a link between the vaccine and the death of the patient, who suffered from chronic, but mild, heart disease, according to the article.
So far just 4 people have died from swine flu in Hungary.
The country’s H1N1 vaccine is being supplied by local vaccine manufacturer Omninvest. The government there has ordered six million doses cover about 60% of Hungary’s population of 10 million.
Omnivest’s vaccines are egg grown and adjuvanted with aluminum phosphate. The company says that only one dose of their H1N1 vaccine is required. Though they have conducted limited trials with the H1N1 virus, their vaccine, is based on tests with the avian flu strain.
According to the Budapest Times report, Omnivest has threatened to sue over allegations that its swine flu vaccine may be dangerous. However, a leading advisor to the Health Ministry in Hungary, last week suggested that the vaccine is not suitable for small children and pregnant women, in spite of the fact that the shot is being offered to free of charge to those “at risk” groups.
Reports are also emerging out of Sweden that suggest more deaths have occurred.
According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, medical experts have said that a man in his fifties died of a suspected heart attack 12 hours after receiving the Pandemrix shot, which is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.
The newspaper also reported that a 65-year-old women died two days after receiving the jab, she is reported to have suffered from a “muscle condition”.

“There are so many confirmed cases that we can now talk about an epidemic”, says Markku Broas, head physician of the unit of infectious diseases at the Lapland Central Hospital in Rovaniemi.

The order came as the Public Employees Federation sued to reverse a policy requiring vaccination against the seasonal and swine flu viruses, arguing that state Health Commissioner Richard Daines overstepped his authority.
Three parties – the Public Employees Federaion, New York State United Teachers, and an attorney representing four Albany nurses – challenged the order and for now the vaccination for nurses, doctors, aides, and non-medical staff members who might be in a patient’s room will remain voluntary.
The health department had said the workers must be vaccinated by November 30 or face possible disciplinary action, including dismissal. PEF said it encourages members to get flu vaccinations, but opposes the emergency regulation requiring the vaccine as a condition of employment.
A judge granted a temporary restraining order Friday morning, PEF spokeswoman Debbie Miles said. A court hearing is scheduled for October 30.
New York was the first state in the country to initially mandate flu vaccinations for its health care workers, but many health care workers quickly protested against the ruling. In Hauppauge, workers outside a local clinic screamed “No forced shots!” when the mandate came down at the end of September.
“I don’t even tend to the sick. I am in the nutrition field. They are telling me I must get the shot because I work in a health clinic setting,” said Paula Small, a Women, Infants and Children health care worker.
Small said she would refuse to be vaccinate, worried the vaccine is untested and unproven, leaving her vulnerable. In 1976, there were some deaths associated with a swine flu vaccination.
Registered nurse Frank Mannino, 50, was also angry. He said the state regulation violates his personal freedom and civil rights.
“And now I will lose my job if I don’t take the regular flu shot or the swine flu shot.”
When asked if he’s willing to lose his job, Mannino said, “Absolutely. I will not take it, will not be forced. This is still America.”
The protest also shook Albany. Hundreds of demonstrators demanded freedom of choice. After all, as health care professionals, they argue they’re already constantly washing their hands and aren’t likely to transmit or contract the flu.

“It’s certainly their prerogative to voice their opinion,” said Dr. Susan Donelan of Stony Brook University Hospital.
Donelan said most in the medical community see the benefits and safety of the shots and welcome them, and that hospitals must obey the law.
“Our hospital is committed to following the mandate to have our personnel vaccinated,” she said.
The state said change was needed this year to save lives. Typically only about 45 percent of health care workers take advantage of voluntary flu vaccines.
More than 150 institutional outbreaks of seasonal and H1N1 flu are expected this year in hospitals, nursing homes and hospice centers.
There is also a strong resistance to the vaccine from the general public. A new Harvard University poll shows that only four in 10 adults intend to take the vaccine themselves, and only six in 10 plan to give it to their children.

Canadian Health Minister Wants 100% Of Population H1N1 Vaccinated
Goal is to get everyone to take the jab before Christmas

Despite national polls indicating that only one third of Canadians intend to get the H1N1 flu vaccine, a Federal Health Minister says it is the government’s goal to vaccinate 100% of the population.
“My goal is to have 100 per cent of Canadians (vaccinated),” chief public health officer Dr. David Butler-Jones told reporters at the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg.
The minister stated that the vaccine will be rolled out in the first week of November, with the goal of vaccinating everyone by the end of December.
“No step is going to be skipped,” the health minister pledged. Once the vaccine is approved, it will be shipped to the provinces and territories and local health authorities will operate immunization programs.”
Butler-Jones made the statement at a press gathering to announce a funding boost for swine flu research from the federal government in the shape of $2.4 million.
“At the end of the day, it is an individual choice,” he said. “(But) if you don’t want H1N1, get the vaccine.” Butler-Jones urged.
“We’re very fortunate as Canadians to be able to have that choice.” he added
Last week a new Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll indicated that only a third of people in Canada intend to take the shot. That figure is down from 45% in a similar poll conducted in August.
Only 11 per cent of respondents described themselves as very concerned about H1N1.
Butler-Jones scolded a portion of Canadian health workers who have also indicated that they do not intend to get vaccinated:
“Doctors and nurses are not immortal, as much as we might think we are,” he said. “And, unfortunately, if we’re not immunized, and we have influenza, we’ll take it into the nursing home and hospital and, potentially, we’ll kill our patients.”
The concerns of Canadian doctors and Health Workers have been proven justified by a study led by Dr Danuta Skowronski of the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control and Dr Gaston De Serres of Laval University, Quebec. The study found that seasonal flu jabs could double the risk of developing swine flu.
The World Health Organisation has dismissed the research as inconclusive, however some provincial and territorial public health authorities in Canada, including those in Ontario, have expressed great concern, leading to threats to delay or cancel mass vaccination programs.
Canada is to use the adjuvanted GlaxoSmithKline H1N1 vaccine Pandemrix, which contains both squalene and thimerosal, which have been linked with neurological side effects.
Pandemrix has also been “fast tracked” based on research only using “mock up” bird flu vaccines dating from 2007 and 2008.
The Canadian government, like those of the US and the UK, has agreed to protect the producer of it’s H1N1 vaccine from lawsuits over potential side effects.
The majority of cases of swine flu in Canada have turned out to be mild, with the virus having been linked to 79 deaths. The seasonal flu usually kills around 2000 people per year in Canada.
On Wednesday Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper appeared to hedge when asked if he and his family would get vaccinated.

A Kansas City clinic has set a disturbing precedent by kicking out a two-year old boy because his mother had failed to follow childhood vaccinations schedule guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Priority Care Pediatrics told Angela Andrews to leave their clinic with her son Elijah because of a new immunization policy.
“If we’re not going to get him on the CDC schedule, they’re not going to treat us,” Andrews told KMBC news.
Andrews told the CNN affiliate network that her son was behind on shots because she was concerned that levels of aluminum contained within the vaccines would damage his health.
“I’m not the expert by any means, but I’m the expert when it comes to my son. He was sick a lot when he was younger. He was more susceptible to flu and colds. I just didn’t feel like vaccines were safe until he was hardier,” Andrews said.

The clinic has stated that it will not tolerate non-vaccination because it leaves other children at risk, logic that doesn’t quite add up because if they have been vaccinated they should be protected.
The clinic’s policy sets a dangerous precedent whereby parental choice over whether to vaccinate their children or not becomes irrelevant, given the threat to withdraw healthcare altogether.
Besides certain laws that apply only to government medical specialists – there is no law that enforces the mandatory use of any vaccine in the United States. Waiver forms for personal or religious exemptions are freely available. Enforced medical treatment is an assault and a violation of the 14th amendment.
Concerned parents across the U.S. are leading a nationwide revolt against unnecessary, untested and dangerous vaccines as CDC records show a growing amount of religious exemptions on vaccine forms.
Perhaps as a result of this growing mistrust, some lawmakers seem determined to ignore the Constitution and to make mandatory all vaccinations recommended by the CDC for all children, including infants and toddlers.
More recently, large Pharmaceutical companies, unable to sell the “benefits” of vaccinations to make enough profit out of them, have increasingly turned to state legislatures and attempted to pay off Governors and other officials to curry favor and force young children to take vaccines such as the flu shot and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
However, big pharma has faced a fierce backlash from concerned parents and religious organizations.
With the advent of the H1N1 “pandemic”, and the media hype surrounding it, it is expected that more and more clinics and schools will begin to institute similar unconstitutional policies to that of Priority Care Pediatrics in Kansas.

Doctors and hospitals are expressing concern that the FluMist vaccine could endanger people because it contains live H1N1 virus, unlike the injectable shot that contains antibodies. With no less than 60 per cent of the U.S. population immunodeficient in one way or another, could FluMist be a pandemic waiting to happen?
Hospitals in Colorado and elsewhere are shunning the FluMist H1N1 vaccine, a nasal spray that contains live swine flu virus, because of fears it could infect people with weakened immune systems and underlying health conditions.
“Several metro area hospitals said they won’t be taking the FluMist because they don’t want to endanger patients,” reports TheDenverChannel.com.
Lois VanFleet, infection prevention specialist at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, expressed concern that doctors and nurses who inhaled the live virus could infect patients whose immune systems are compromised.
However, H1N1 FluMist is being rolled out nationwide from this week, including at “drive-through clinics” across the country where the nasal spray is administered while people sit in their cars with their window wide open (see top picture).
The live virus contained in the nasal spray is weakened but it can be transmitted from person to person for up to three weeks.
According to studies, “the odds of transmitting the virus after receiving the nasal spray are about 2.5 percent,” with children the most susceptible.
The nasal spray is being rolled out on a mass scale before the widespread introduction of the injectable vaccine. Some fear that the nasal spray will contribute to a wider pandemic, which will then provide governments with the crisis they need to make the injectable vaccine mandatory.
“This would accelerate the move to a state of emergency, cripple the US health care system, and would result in the “need” to have military, eventually UN troops, take control,” notes TheFluCase.com.
“Also, all public assemblies, including courts, would be prohibited, thereby satisfying a condition for the imposition of martial law, mass quarantines, and forced vaccinations for the rest of us.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, the swine flu scandal of 1976, when more people died from the vaccine than the actual virus, was what caused the live virus to be removed from future vaccines. However, it is admitted that FluMist contains the live virus.
“It has been documented that the live viruses from the vaccine can be shed (and potentially spread into the community) from recipient children for up to 21 days, and even longer from adults. Viral shedding also puts breastfeeding infants at risk if the mother has been given FluMist,” writes Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, one of the most outspoken physicians in the country on the hazards of vaccines and vaccination.
FluMist’s own package insert reads as follows, “FluMist® recipients should avoid close contact with immunocompromised individuals for at least 21 days.”
“The warning is specifically directed toward those living in the same household with an immunocompromised person, but the on-going release of live viruses throughout the community may be a significant risk to everyone who has a weak, or weakened, immune system,” writes Tenpenny, pointing out that if one takes into account a plethora of health conditions that could be classified as contributing to immunodeficiency, as much as 60% of the entire population could be considered to be “chemically immunosuppressed.”
“An ever greater concern about FluMist is the contents within the vaccine. Each 0.5ml of the formula contains 10 6.5-7.5 particles of live, attenuated influenza virus. That means that between 10 million and 100 million viral particles will be forcefully injected into the nostrils when administered. The viral strain was developed by serial passage through “specific pathogen-free primary chick kidney cells” and then grown in “specific pathogen-free eggs.” That means that the culture media was free of pathogens that were specifically tested for, but not a culture that was necessarily “pathogen-free.” The risk that the vaccine may contain contaminant avian retroviruses still remains,” warns Tenpenny.
One of the pharmaceutical companies developing nasal spray vaccines is Baxter International, who were caught earlier this year releasing batches of vaccines from a lab in Austria that were contaminated live bird flu virus, otherwise known as H5N1.

Sacramento International Airport Offers Flu Vaccinations

Editor: How long before getting the flu shot before you travel is mandatory? No shot, no fly.
SACRAMENTO, CA – Starting Friday morning, flu shots are available at Sacramento International Airport. An airport spokesperson says it’s a service aimed at the the busy traveler and it’s another way for the airport to try to stay flu-free.
The airport will provide flu, pneumonia, and tetanus shots in Terminal A. The vaccinations will be available in Terminal B on Wednesday, October 7. The flu and pneumonia shots cost $30 and the tetanus shots cost $35.
Passengers can get a shot either before they board a flight or after they land. Some travelers think it’s a good idea.
“There’s no reason that I wouldn’t do it,” said traveler Steve Chalkins. “I think it’s a good service for people.”
“I think it’s a wonderful idea because you have people coming in from all over the country with different germs and it would protect some of us,” said traveler Maxine Fields.

Harvard Survey: Only 1/3 Of Americans Believe Swine Flu Vaccines Are Safe

A survey conducted by Harvard University has found that only one third of adults trust the safety of the imminently available H1N1 vaccine.
Just 40% of respondents said they would take the swine flu shot in the poll carried out by Harvard Opinion Research Program at Harvard School of Public Health.
The study, funded under a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also found that respondents were worried about side effects or not concerned about catching the flu at all.
44% of respondents who were parents said they were unsure over getting their children vaccinated against H1N1, with 21% of those parents saying they absolutely will not allow their kids to be vaccinated.
Parents said that they were concerned about their children getting other illnesses from the vaccine and that they do not trust public health officials to tell them about vaccine safety.
The results show a great public distrust in the vaccine with just one third (33%) of the public viewing the H1N1 vaccine as very safe “generally for most people to take”. Even less (18%) believe it is safe for children aged 6 months to 2 years, and only 13% feel it is safe for pregnant women.
Almost one third (31%) of respondents think that public health officials’ concerns over H1N1 flu have been overblown.
Of the 40% of adults who said they would not take the shot, the majority said they may reconsider if people begin dying from the virus en mass.
The survey was conducted with a broad representative national sample of 1042 adults aged 18 and over.
The survey dovetails with a similar poll from Consumer Reports, one of the top-ten-circulation magazines in the country, that found almost two thirds of Americans would either refuse the vaccine outright or wait for more information before considering vaccinating their children.
As we have previously reported, both the GlaxoSmithKilne and the Novartis H1N1 vaccines contain both the novel adjuvant squalene, which has been linked to Gulf War Syndrome, and thimerosal, the mercury based preservative that some scientists have testified can cause brain disorders.
The vaccines have been rushed through safety procedures while the government has provided pharmaceutical companies with blanket immunity from lawsuits arriving out of the vaccine causing deaths and injuries.
In related news, more hospitals are demanding that workers be mandated to take the H1N1 shot, while Sacramento International Airport is to offer vaccinations in its terminals in a precedent setting move that critics have described as concerning.

Seasonal flu shot may increase H1N1 risk

Preliminary research suggests the seasonal flu shot may put people at greater risk for getting swine flu, CBC News has learned.
“This is some evidence that has been floated. It hasn’t been validated yet, it’s very preliminary,” cautioned Dr. Don Low, microbiologist-in-chief at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
“This is obviously important data to help guide policy decisions. How can we best protect people against influenza?”
It’s important to validate the information to make sure it’s not just a fluke, and that the observation is confirmed elsewhere such as in the Southern Hemisphere, which just completed its seasonal flu season, Low added.
Four Canadian studies involved about 2,000 people, health officials told CBC News. Researchers found people who had received the seasonal flu vaccine in the past were more likely to get sick with the H1N1 virus.
