Paul Trades Fox for Jay Leno
Reason
January 7, 2008
MANCHESTER, NH – Well, the choice was sort of made for him, but 24-odd hours after being bounced from the Fox News five-man forum, Ron Paul will be appearing on the Tonight Show. He’s en route to Los Angeles to shoot the show for Monday night. Ron’s son Rand and his friend ex-Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr. will be filling in at Paul’s campaign events until he returns Monday night.
I asked Paul if he had any problem breaking the writer pickets to appear on the show. Silly question: He doesn’t care about the unions or the pickets. And at his speeches at a Republican brunch (attended by almost 1000 people) and the Liberty Forum (attended by hundreds) But Paul backers in the state were enraged at the Fox shutout. At the Liberty Forum, so many people were organizing a Fox protest that Operation Live Free or Die sent out a request that Paul supporters chill out and devote their energy to an afternoon town hall instead. Some listened, but more than 200 materialized on Elm Street in Manchester to chant “Fox News Sucks!” and reel in local news teams. The Paul crowds were close to Frank Luntz’s debate focus group; after it was over, Luntz got the crowd to bet him $1000 that Paul would score 20 percent in the primary.
A little more from this afternoon: Paul will campaign at least until Feb. 5, by which time he’ll “reassess” the race.

Ron Paul Gaining Ground In New Hampshire
New poll proves mainstream dismissal of congressman’s presidential campaign is foolhardy

A newly released presidential primary preference poll indicates that Ron Paul is gaining significant ground in New Hampshire and dispels the mainstream media myth that the Congressman is not amongst the top tier candidates.
The poll, conducted by St. Anselm College’s Institute of Politics, puts Ron Paul 4th behind Giuliani, McCain and Romney with 7.4 percent. It places Fred Thompson, touted as second favourite to take the GOP nomination, in 6th place.
The poll also shows that 40 percent describe themselves as “independents” who may vote Republican, and 19 percent who will, are still undecided. Ron Paul’s campaign staff are encouraged by these figures as they show that none of the other big name candidates have grasped the imagination of voters, leaving the door very much open for the Congressman.
Paul’s campaign office is about to embark on a major media blitz in New Hampshire, readying phone banks to call potential Ron Paul supporters throughout the state and major TV ads, such as the one below.

Congressman Paul, who filed his declaration of candidacy to run in the New Hampshire presidential primary at the State house in Concord last week, is also scheduled to make an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno tomorrow night.
Recent poll results from public opinion service Rasmussen Reports also indicate that support for Ron Paul could be much higher nationwide, placing him above Giuliani in some instances.
“By all accounts, Dr. Paul’s support is rising steadily,” said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Americans are ready for a change and his unifying message of freedom, peace and prosperity is bringing more people together every day.”

Ron Paul to Follow Appearance on Tonight Show with Jay Leno with Fundraiser
October 25, 2007
Ron Paul is scheduled to make an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday, October 30 and after taping the Republican presidential hopeful will hold a fundraiser at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills.
There are some talks that have suggested that Paul would like to parlay his late night appearance on Jay Leno into a spot on a day-time program that would further bolster his appeal and name recognition.
Paul has seen a tremendous boost in donations to the Ron Paul 2008 Hope for America campaign following each of his national appearances.
The Ron Paul fundraising event after the Tonight Show is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
