Video shows police punching teen 13 times in the face
Raw Story
August 10, 2008
An 18-year-old was punched in the face 13 times by a deputy police officer, whose dashboard video camera caught the incident on tape, WYFF Channel 4 News reported.
The video shows undercover Deputy Brian Tollison pulling over a truck driven by a drug suspect and beating the teenage driver while what appears to be a back-up deputy held down him down.
Once back-up deputies arrived, 18-year-old Jeremy Rucker was pulled out of the truck and tasered and kicked while lying prone on the ground.
Sheriff Steve Loftis fired Tollison, who also faces criminal charges for the incident, which took place May 15.
“The fact that Deputy Tollison took his closed fist and struck the suspect in the face 13 times in my opinion was excessive,” Loftis said.
The other deputies involved have not been charged.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Department said that Rucker had fled from police and resisted arrest, but had “calmed down” when Tollison started hitting him.
Rucker’s attorney, Karl Allen, said his client was sitting in his truck talking on his phone when the undercover deputies approached him.
“Then they have the audacity, to treat this man as if he’s a piece of meat and Taser him with electrical jolts to his body and then, that’s not enough,” Allen said. “They kick three times to the torso.”
Police charged Rucker with drug possession and resisting arrest, though drugs were not found on him until he was taken into custody.
Police brutality in Smith Homes, Greensboro, NC
August 8, 2008
The FBI has launched a review of the violent law enforcement raid of the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo in Prince George’s County last week that resulted in the deaths of the family’s two dogs.
The agency has begun “reviewing the events that occurred at Mr. Calvo’s residence,” said Richard J. Wolf, spokesman for the FBI in Baltimore, which has jurisdiction over federal civil rights investigations in Maryland.
The FBI announcement came in response to a call yesterday by Calvo and his wife, Trinity Tomsic, for such a probe. Calvo and Tomsic suggested a systemic problem might exist in county law enforcement.

McCain Jokes About Killing Iranians Again
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
July 9, 2008
Potential next President John McCain’s sick obsession with slaughtering brown people in the Middle East betrayed itself again yesterday when he responded to a question about exporting cigarettes to Iran by saying, “maybe that’s a way of killing them.”
McCain was asked by a reporter, “We’ve learned that exports to Iran increased by tenfold during the Bush administration, biggest export was cigarettes,” to which McCain snapped back, “maybe that’s a way of killing them,” before laughing and chuckling, “I meant that as a joke.”
Watch the clip.
This is not the first time that McCain has expressed his bloodlust for seeing Iranians massacred.
During an April 2007 town hall meeting in South Carolina, one of McCain’s fawning Neo-Con slug acolytes stood up and asked why “we don’t send an airmail message to Tehran,” to which McCain responded, “Remember that old Beach Boys song? Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.”
The whole audience snickered at the thought of innocent Iranian women and children being blown to bits for the good of the American empire.
Does a historical pretext even exist against which to measure potential Presidents who find killing hundreds of thousands of people funny?
Hitler, Pol Pot, and Osama Bin Laden liked to talk about slaughtering masses of people on a regular basis, but they stopped short of cracking jokes about it.
McCain was subject to a barrage of criticism after his last outburst but he’s gone on to repeat such comments without a care in the world.
Either the body politic is so jaded by 7 years of imperial Neo-Con bloodletting that McCain thinks such comments are tame in comparison, or he knows he’s a ringer and has no chance anyway of beating the elite’s chosen one for 2008 – Barack Obama.
Or he could just be one sick bastard. That makes for presidential material these days.
Cops arrest 7 people for cheering at graduation
CNews
June 10, 2008
Authorities say seven people attending high school graduations in Rock Hill, South Carolina, are facing charges after police say they cheered while students’ names were being called.
Authorities say six people at Fort Mill High School’s graduation were charged Saturday and a seventh at the graduation for York Comprehensive High School was charged Friday with disorderly conduct.
Police say those arrested yelled after students’ names were called while diplomas were handed out.
A police spokesman says school officials request police patrols to prevent graduation disruptions that include standing, hollering and clapping.
He says those attending the commencements are told their behaviour can be prosecuted.
Rock Hill is about 110 kilometres north of Columbia, South Carolina.

Harris Calls For Resignations In New Hampshire Recount Fiasco
Vote fraud expert convinced chain of custody is corrupt, says “criminal enterprise” is at work
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 29, 2008
Fresh from her confrontations in New Hampshire during which public officials were grilled about slapdash chain of custody and ballot box tampering issues, Bev Harris told the Alex Jones Show that a “criminal enterprise” is running the primary recount and has called for Secretary of State William Gardner to resign and his assistant to be fired.
Harris was fundamental in the vetting and production of the HBO special Hacking Democracy, and has contributed towards bringing charges against vote fraudsters who cheated in Ohio in 2004.
Harris traveled to New Hampshire personally to discover for herself the disgraceful lapses in chain of custody for the memory cards and ballot boxes used in the recent primary.
Harris is featured in the video below asking public officials about slits in ballot boxes as they bizarrely deny that the slits are big enough to allow tampering, amongst a myriad of other disturbing questions about chain of custody. Follow-up questions are frowned upon and one official calls security to have Harris removed.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hHL_YMBolRs
Following Republican candidate Albert Howard’s attempts to oversee the recount, Harris said “I knew that somebody needed to get to New Hampshire and protect or find out what they’re doing with chain of custody of the ballots….New Hampshire has the memory cards for 81 per cent of its votes counted by this one company – we found there was a convicted felon involved in that….that’s why I wanted to see what the chain of custody was”.
After hooking up with other vote fraud experts, Harris confronted public officials and asked pointed questions about chain of custody.
“The problem was we were either not getting answers or we were getting bizarre answers,” said Harris.
New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner was questioned on the whereabouts of the memory cards that hold electronic records of the votes.
“She kept asking him and ultimately he had to admit he didn’t know where they were, and this is days after the election,” said Harris.
One of the observers followed the ballots back to the vault where they were being stored overnight and noticed slits in the ballot boxes that had not been counted, a complete violation of federal election laws.
“I then came in the next day and asked the assistant Secretary of State David Scanlan – what about that slit in the end of the box?” said Harris, after which Scanlan attempted to dismiss the concern by claiming the slits weren’t big enough to allow tampering (an OJ tries on the glove moment, according to Harris).
One of the observers then proceeded to shame Scanlan by easily sticking her whole hand into the ballot box.
Officials then claimed that a special tape was in place to seal the box, bt as Harris proves in the video, the tape can easily be peeled off and re-applied.
“It’s a post-it note,” said Harris, “You can rip it on and off, on and off.”
Harris then discovered that the ballot boxes were not being transfered from state to state by police as should be the case, but by “Butch and Hoppy,” two truck drivers who raced around the state at high speed endangering people and and employing evasive manoevers to escape from observers who were following them.
“We caught them meeting up with a green jeep in the middle of nowhere half way through their route and we walk up to them and they drive off in a different direction,” said Harris.
“I wanted to see what the ballots looked like when Butch and Hoppy take them off the truck, well sure enough they didn’t have seals on them and some of them weren’t even closed – they had the box top open with big gashes and tears in them,” said Harris, who also revealed how officials left ballots in their offices and did not store them in secure vaults.
“Every way that it could break down it seemed to have broken down,” said Harris, “Even to the extent of just not following procedures”.
“How can you say that you can open someone’s ballot box without them present?” asked Harris.
Based on her experiences with the sham nature of the process, Harris called for the resignation of the Secretary of State Gardener and his assistant David Scanlan.
“I think assistant Secretary of State David Scanlan, who is actually their operations guy, should be dismissed from his position and the Secretary of State should resign, and they need to refund the money for both candidates and recount all those ballots in public,” said Harris.
“What they’re doing here is a criminal enterprise,” she added, “It has all the earmarks of it.”

SC voting machines not set to zero before voting started
January 20, 2008
But the Commission blamed the delay on human error, even though Election Systems & Software voting machines used in South Carolina were decertified by the California Secretary of State last year, after the company refused to provide information necessary to review the voting systems, as required by state law.
“Some voters cast paper ballots today in 15-20 precincts because voting machines were not ready to accept votes,” the Commission stated. “This issue was due to a human error in preparing the machines for the primary.
The 2008 Primary season has been wracked by allegations of vote fraud stemming from the use of unreliable and easily hackable voting machines belonging to Diebold and ES&S and other vendors.
New Hampshire was forced to carry out a state-wide manual recount after discrepancies emerged between hand counted and machine counted votes.

Nevada Caucus – Fox News: Ron Paul nonexistent with 14%
Third Party Watch
January 20, 2008
For some reason, Fox News continues to disregard the fact that Ron Paul is one of the GOP presidential candidates and he didn’t ignore Nevada like most of the presidential candidates.
I received the graphic above in my e-mail (click to enlarge) and don’t know to whom the credit is due. However, this screenshot was obviously taken of Fox News coverage of the Nevada results. For some reason, they failed to mention the 2 candidate, although they covered 1, 3 and 4.
Of course, most folks can easily figure out that Ron Paul was the candidate they “accidentally” forgot to cover.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=sFXqUgRxtzY
Considering Paul’s exclusion from the New Hampshire debate, this incident, and a variety of snide remarks made by Fox commentators, it’s starting to look like Fox News has a political agenda. I wonder how this squares with campaign finance regulations, as corporations aren’t supposed to be making in-kind contributions to federal campaigns. I may disagree with the regulations, but it seems that John McCain shouldn’t be able to benefit like this from a regulation which bears his name.
UPDATE: It looks like Fox is continuing with the same general level of distortion regarding incoming South Carolina results. I’ve been watching the results come in at CNN and haven’t seen any point around the time this particular screen shot was taken when Giuliani was ahead of Paul.
Ron Paul Bags Second In Nevada Caucus

So-called long shot candidate Ron Paul managed to finish 2nd place in the Nevada caucuses held today, which proves the Texas Representative may have more support around the country, and especially out west, than he’s getting credit for.
Romney destroyed the competition in Nevada with over 50% of the vote and finished first. Ron Paul came in second with 13%, and John McCain finished third, also with 13% but with fewer popular votes than Paul.
Independents overwhelmingly supported Paul in the western state, which clearly helped propel Paul into a much needed second place finish. Normally, independents support the much more liberal John McCain.
Fred Thompson finished fourth, Mike Huckabee fifth and Rudy Giuliani, again falling far short of popular expectations, came in a distant sixth place. Duncan Hunter rounded out the GOP candidates with a seventh place finish, barely picking up 2% of the vote.

AP Reporter Confronts Romney On Lobbyists Claim
Reuters
January 18, 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdGUSjd3Tmo
“I don’t have lobbyists that are tied to my …”
Associated Press journalist Glen Johnson interrupted at this point to say that Ron Kaufman, one of Romney’s top advisors, is a lobbyist.
“Did you hear what I said, Glen?” a clearly irritated Romney said. “I said, ‘I don’t have lobbyists running my campaign,’ and he’s not running my campaign. He’s an adviser. And the person who runs my campaign is Beth Myers, and I have a whole staff of deputy campaign managers.”
Kaufman is a registered lobbyist for Dutko Worldwide. His clients have included Fedex, Sprint Nextel, Union Pacific and United Health Care.
“My campaign is not based on Washington lobbyists,” Romney said. “I haven’t been in Washington. I don’t have lobbyists at my elbow that are arguing for one industry or another industry and I do not have favors I have to repay to people who have been in Washington for years or scores I have to settle.”
Television showed a member of Romney’s media staff telling Johnson after the briefing that he was “out of line” and not to be “argumentative” with the campaign.
The presence of lobbyists on a campaign team has become a issue because of the perception that they distort policymaking, making it beholden to industry and business interests.
Democratic candidate John Edwards tells audiences he has never taken money from Washington lobbyists in a bid to distinguish himself from rivals Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Romney has raised at least $229,475 from lobbyists for his presidential bid as of September 30, 2007, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-profit group that tracks money in politics. Only Sen. John McCain has raised more among Republicans, it said.
Romney has been criticized for changing positions on policies such as abortion and over the accuracy of some of his statements. In December, Romney said he had seen his father march with civil rights leader Martin Luther King. Campaign aides later said he was speaking figuratively.

Fox ambushes Ron Paul with ‘9/11 Truthers’ question
Raw Story
January 11, 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-lxZmrqLxU
“Well, it doesn’t do me any good,” answered Paul, “so if they care about me they should, but the only thing I have control over is what I believe and what I say. I can’t tell them what to do. … So please, could I participate in the current debate …”
This remark was met with cheers and applause, and Paul went on to argue that the Republican Party has lost its way.
“I don’t think we’re fiscal conservatives any more,” Paul stated. “Look at what we’ve done over these last 10 years. We finally got control of the government, and we became big government people. … And then we turn around and we talk about liberty, and we’ve undermined the Fourth Amendment and personal liberty and personal privacy. … We’re policing the world … at the same time our economy is suffering. … So no wonder our coalition is breaking up. We actually have lost our way.”
A full transcript of the debate is available here.
Ron Paul: 9/11 Commission ‘Hid Ineptness’ Just as Most Government Investigations Usually Do
Warns that fighting a war “for no good reason” will lead to a draft, expansion of troop numbers and a collapse of the dollar
Jones Report
January 10, 2008
Reporters from WeAreChange.org confronted Ron Paul in a New Hampshire spin room about supporting victim’s family members in pursuing a new 9/11 investigation. “Yes, I support more investigation,” Paul responded.
The Presidential candidate indicated that the full truth was still not known “because ineptness was hidden” in the 9/11 Commission investigation.
“This is generally what government investigations do,” Ron Paul said. “They hide inefficiencies and ineptness.”
He further criticized those in charge who “can’t and won’t admit” that the country is “fighting a war for no good reason.” “They’ve dug their heels in and they’ll lose everything they’ve said,” he said about war hawks.
Paul commented that Giuliani’s intention to expand the military by 200,000 troops would lead to a draft and the printing of more money. “Get ready. They’re going to draft you– all you young people,” Paul warned.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH9nOWnp5G0
“They’ll print it and the dollar will go bust– and everyone going to get poor– and then we’ll bring our troops home. I don’t want to wait to that point I want them bring home in a more logical fashion,” Paul said.
Other reporters asked about Giuliani’s odd dismissal of history as a factor in current middle-east foreign policy. “He’s been saying that for a long time,” Paul told cameras, “but I’ve given my explanation and I bet a majority of Americans agree with me.”
Giuliani and his advisors have consistently refused to even discuss foreign policy or address the consequences it could have.
WeAreChange.org asked Norman Podhoretz— a Giuliani advisor– about the U.S.-led overthrow of Iran in 1953. Podhoretz dismissed the incident as “ancient history,” when reporters brought up its impact in current tensions. Yet, Podhoretz advocates a pre-emptive strike on Iran.
Ron Paul also addressed his concerns about the emerging North American Union, stating that “there are people who would like to have it, like a European Union.” But, he said, “the American people are waking up to this and are resisting it.” Paul urged people to “join the Ron Paul Revolution.”
Ron Paul has been the only presidential candidate unafraid to stand up to WeAreChange.org questions and give an explanation without avoiding the issues. Others on the campaign trail have deflected or even run away.

Bush: We Could “Easily” Be In Iraq For Another 10 Years
Huffington Post
January 11, 2008
U.S. President George W. Bush said on Friday the United States would have a long-term presence in Iraq that could “easily” last a decade, but that it would be at the invitation of the Iraqi government.
In an interview with NBC News, Bush was asked about recent comments by Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain that it would be fine with him to have a U.S. military presence in Iraq for 100 years.
