McCain Campaign Tries to Block Ron Paul From Convention Floor

Think Progress
September 2, 2008

The Washington Times reported today that the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee have been “negotiating with Rep. Ron Paul to win his support and acquire the names of his sympathizers among the 4,607 delegates and alternates at the Republican National Convention.”

However, when CNN’s John King asked Paul this morning whether such reports were true, Paul laughed. “I wouldn’t put it in those words,” he said. In fact, he said the RNC seemed to be trying to keep him off the convention floor, even though as a congressman, he should be able to get floor passes without a problem. Watch it:

Paul was barred from speaking at the convention “because the congressman would not change his position on the war in Iraq, which he opposes.” The Washington Times also reports that Paul “was denied permission to address the Republican Platform Committee last week” after “the McCain forces who controlled the platform proceedings, as well as the Rules Committee and the Credentials Committee, objected.”

The McCain campaign’s stonewalling of Ron Paul may not have the support of his vice presidential pick, Gov. Sarah Palin. In an interview with MTV earlier this year, Palin expressed support for Paul, saying that he was “cool“:

He’s cool. He’s a good guy. He’s a good guy. He’s so independent. He’s independent of like the party machine, I’m like, right on, so am I. The party machinery, on both sides of the party, ya know, Americans are tiring of the incessant partisanship that gets in the way of just doing the right thing for this country.

Paul will at least be welcome at a “counter convention” held in Minneapolis for his supporters, where he is speaking today. Paul said he expected around 18,000 people to attend today’s rally.

Nevada GOP cancels convention so Ron Paul can’t win

Nevada GOP cancels convention so Ron Paul can’t win

RGJ
July 18, 2008

The Nevada Republican Party decided Thursday not to reconvene its scuttled state convention this month, claiming it couldn’t generate enough interest to reach a legal quorum to elect delegates to the national convention in St. Paul, Minn.

Instead, the party’s executive board, in a private conference call July 25, would decide who from Nevada will attend the Republican National Convention to formally nominate U.S. Sen. John McCain.

The state party abruptly ended its state convention in April to head off a delegation of Ron Paul supporters who had captured control of the proceedings and appeared on track to elect a majority slate to the Sept. 1-4 national convention.

A group of disaffected Republicans trying to get to the national convention are asking a Reno judge to halt the party’s efforts to appoint a national delegation in a private conference call scheduled for Friday.

Dr. Wayne Terhune, a Sparks dentist leading a contingent of Ron Paul supporters, said the state party broke the law when it canceled the reconvening of the state convention planned for Saturday.

“They are illegally appointing delegates behind closed doors in private phone calls,” Terhune said Monday. “State law says you have to have a convention.”

Ron Paul Delegates Forced out of GOP Convention

At the Nueces County Republican party convention, March 29th, in Corpus Christi Texas, Ron Paul supporters walked out in protest and held their own emergency convention in the parking lot. Republican party Chairperson Mike Bertuzzi grossly violated party rules by announcing new delegates to the morning’s roll call who were never elected as precinct delegates on the night of the Republican primary, then again by ignoring repeated objections by party delegates, which he is required to recognize.

Mr. Bertuzzi claims that he avoided a ’party takeover’ by unruly Ron Paul supporters, but a recently released audio tape of the event clearly shows otherwise. As a blatant violation of convention rules is underway by the Chairperson, many delegates can be heard rising to voice objections with no avail until a local man, Paul Hunt , is escorted out by the Sergeant at Arms..

The following morning, the local news rag, The Corpus Christi Caller Times, reported only one side of the incident, by claiming that a GOP party takeover had been thwarted while presenting Chairperson Mike Bertuzzi as some kind of political hero for violating the rights of local Republicans.

GOP Walks Out On Their Own Convention In Ron Paul Fiasco
Rule change had given Paul supporters bigger influence but officials simply cancelled event

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
April 28, 2008

After Ron Paul supporters managed to get a rule changed positioning them for more national convention delegate slots than expected, the Nevada GOP simply cancelled their own state convention and left, in what political observers are calling an unprecedented fiasco.

“After a super-majority of Ron Paul supporters captured control of the Republican state convention Saturday, state party officials abruptly canceled the event without electing delegates to the national convention,” reports the Reno Gazette Journal.

“I’ve seen factions walk out, I’ve never seen a party walk out, I’ve never even heard of that,” said Jeff Greenspan, regional coordinator for the Paul campaign.

Earlier in the day, state delegates supporting the Texas Congressman’s pursuit of the nomination “voted through a rules change that forced the state party to abandon its pre-set ballot of potential national convention delegates and open up the race to the rest of the state delegates,” according to the Gazette Journal.

As the convention neared its end, chairman Bob Beers claimed that the party’s contract for the hall at the Peppermill Resort Casino had expired and the event would be rescheduled, and delegates who had traveled from several hundreds of miles away in some cases were barred from voting, prompting loud boos and catcalls from the audience.

“As Beers was escorted out of the building, a short-lived effort to rescue the convention was launched by party activist Mike Weber. Although several hundred Paul supporters stayed, they weren’t strong enough to make a quorum to continue the convention,” according to reports.

Officials claimed that the rule change overwhelmed the party’s capacity to process the votes, but Paul supporters were left furious by the decision.

“This was an organized effort to promote the agenda of a few people, the party leaders, over we the people,” said Chloie Leavitt.

Paul’s rousing speech had earlier been met with raucous cheers by supporters who drowned out the small number of McCain supporters attempting to heckle.

“Our campaign has continued, is doing well and improving, even though we know exactly what the numbers are,” Paul said. “But the message is worthwhile. Your vote can really count if you vote for limitation of government power and spending,” stated the Congressman.

The following You Tube clips illustrate what happened in Reno this weekend, a situation described by the poster as “total anarchy”.

Ron Paul Is The Candidate Of The Troops

Government Figures Prove Ron Paul Is The Candidate Of The Troops
Top three contributors to Congressman’s campaign are army, navy, air force

Steve Watson
Infowars.net

Fbiiraqisbein_mn

Presidential candidate Ron Paul’s avocation of a humble foreign policy and his determined anti-war stance has once again been proven to be extremely popular amongst American servicemen and women as newly released figures reveal the top three contributors to the Congressman’s campaign are from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force respectively.

The figures have been posted at www.opensecrets.org, the website for the Federal Election Commission, the body that oversees campaign donations.

“No matter how you measure it, Dr. Paul has the support of our nation’s brave servicemen and women,” said Kent Snyder, Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman. “His message of a strong national defense, and only going to war with a declaration of war – as mandated by the Constitution – resonates with those who risk their lives to defend that Constitution.”

The following table highlights the figures:

RON PAUL (R):

US Army $68,817
US Navy $57,076
US Air Force $52,371
Google Inc $51,382
Microsoft Corp $46,079
US Postal Service $31,054
Lockheed Martin $26,754
Boeing Co $24,388
At&T Inc $22,398
IBM Corp $19,177
Verizon Communications $18,399
Hewlett-Packard $18,014
Apple Inc $17,314
Intel Corp $16,751
Northrop Grumman $16,067
General Electric $15,788
General Dynamics $15,584
Cisco Systems $14,702
US Dept of Defense $14,338
Wachovia Corp $14,231

HOW TO READ THIS CHART: This chart lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2008 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organization’s PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

Because of contribution limits, organizations that bundle together many individual contributions are often among the top donors to presidential candidates. These contributions can come from the organization’s members or employees (and their families). The organization may support one candidate, or hedge its bets by supporting multiple candidates.

Ron Paul has received almost triple the amount of military contributions as John McCain, whose top contributors do not include any branch of the military.

The Congressman’s total military donations also add up to almost as much as all the other remaining candidates, Republican and Democratic combined.

The figures overwhelmingly prove that those on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as veterans understand that Ron Paul is the only candidate who truly supports the troops by believing in a strong national defense while rejecting the gross abuse of the military via unconstitutional aggression.

Voting Problems Reported In Florida

Multiple Voting Machine Problems Reported In Florida
Media reports switching of machines, non functioning machines as “glitches”

Steve Watson
Infowars.net
January 29, 2008

Fbiiraqisbein_mn

Multiple problems with electronic voting machines have been reported in Florida today as people take to the polls in the latest presidential primary.

Eagle eyed members of the prisonplanet forum are scouring media reports and keeping a close watch on events in Florida in light of the ongoing saga with the New Hampshire primary and the recount fiasco.

Keep track of events at this live thread where members are posting the latest information.

So far multiple reports have indicated that voters are experiencing problems throughout the state, particularly with the electronic machines.

The Palm Beach Post reports:

At Kings Point in suburban Delray Beach, voters encountered delays after a poll worker mistakenly shut down the voting machines, Elections Supervisor Arthur Anderson told reporters.

“They were on and then someone mistakenly, accidentally turned them off,” Anderson said while visiting H.L. Johnson Elementary School in Royal Palm Beach. “Allegedly someone tripped over a line or something like that.”

The machines couldn’t be turned back on, so workers had to bring in replacement machines and program them. “It’s going to delay the process,” he said.

This will have resulted in lost votes and once again goes to show that the machines are unreliable and detrimental to the democratic voting process.

According to other reports, machines in some precincts were delivered late and so voting was delayed, causing some to abandon the lines.

Other problems with the machines have been reported by voters. The Sun Sentinal reports:

Rabbi Richard Yellin said he was first in line at the polling location at Congress Avenue and Woolbright Boulevard in Boynton Beach, but that did him little good when it came to casting his vote.

“There has been a major failure of the voting, at least at this precinct,” he said.

He said he tried five times to use the voting machine but it would not allow him to vote. About a dozen people were also at the precinct to vote, Yellin said. “None of the machines worked,” Yellin said.

Poll workers were attempting to obtain help from the main elections office, but were still struggling to activate the machines when Yellin said he had to leave to attend to his duties at the synagogue.

Another voter reported that she noticed that the poll worker in her precinct pushed the non-partisan button for her when assigning her card, even though she’s a registered Democrat. Nonpartisan voters cannot vote in the presidential primary. From The Palm Beach Post:

When Monzon pointed this out, she says the poll worker sought out help from a supervisor, who then called the supervisor of elections office.

Monzon says that after the supervisor got off the phone with the elections office, she told Monzon and the poll worker that this problem is happening around the county and that there is nothing that can be done about it.

Monzon says other voters present had the same problem. In one case, a wife was able to vote and but her husband was not because his ballot was changed to nonpartisan.

In Broward County, which was subject to recounts and hanging chads in 2000, some machines also malfunctioned or did not function whatsoever, as reported by NBC:

In Broward County Fla., minor delays were reported this morning at a half dozen polling locations. Voters who provide a driver’s license for identification have their license run through a machine that reads the magnetic stripe on the back. (The machine is called an EVID). At least six of those EVID machines at different polling locations did not work this morning.

Today’s primary will be the last time for at least 4 years that residents will use the machines as they have been judged to be too unreliable and detrimental to voter confidence.

Harris Calls For Resignations In New Hampshire Recount Fiasco

Harris Calls For Resignations In New Hampshire Recount Fiasco
Vote fraud expert convinced chain of custody is corrupt, says “criminal enterprise” is at work

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 29, 2008

Fresh from her confrontations in New Hampshire during which public officials were grilled about slapdash chain of custody and ballot box tampering issues, Bev Harris told the Alex Jones Show that a “criminal enterprise” is running the primary recount and has called for Secretary of State William Gardner to resign and his assistant to be fired.

Harris was fundamental in the vetting and production of the HBO special Hacking Democracy, and has contributed towards bringing charges against vote fraudsters who cheated in Ohio in 2004.

Harris traveled to New Hampshire personally to discover for herself the disgraceful lapses in chain of custody for the memory cards and ballot boxes used in the recent primary.

Harris is featured in the video below asking public officials about slits in ballot boxes as they bizarrely deny that the slits are big enough to allow tampering, amongst a myriad of other disturbing questions about chain of custody. Follow-up questions are frowned upon and one official calls security to have Harris removed.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=hHL_YMBolRs

Following Republican candidate Albert Howard’s attempts to oversee the recount, Harris said “I knew that somebody needed to get to New Hampshire and protect or find out what they’re doing with chain of custody of the ballots….New Hampshire has the memory cards for 81 per cent of its votes counted by this one company – we found there was a convicted felon involved in that….that’s why I wanted to see what the chain of custody was”.

After hooking up with other vote fraud experts, Harris confronted public officials and asked pointed questions about chain of custody.

“The problem was we were either not getting answers or we were getting bizarre answers,” said Harris.

New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner was questioned on the whereabouts of the memory cards that hold electronic records of the votes.

“She kept asking him and ultimately he had to admit he didn’t know where they were, and this is days after the election,” said Harris.

One of the observers followed the ballots back to the vault where they were being stored overnight and noticed slits in the ballot boxes that had not been counted, a complete violation of federal election laws.

“I then came in the next day and asked the assistant Secretary of State David Scanlan – what about that slit in the end of the box?” said Harris, after which Scanlan attempted to dismiss the concern by claiming the slits weren’t big enough to allow tampering (an OJ tries on the glove moment, according to Harris).

One of the observers then proceeded to shame Scanlan by easily sticking her whole hand into the ballot box.

Officials then claimed that a special tape was in place to seal the box, bt as Harris proves in the video, the tape can easily be peeled off and re-applied.

“It’s a post-it note,” said Harris, “You can rip it on and off, on and off.”

Harris then discovered that the ballot boxes were not being transfered from state to state by police as should be the case, but by “Butch and Hoppy,” two truck drivers who raced around the state at high speed endangering people and and employing evasive manoevers to escape from observers who were following them.

“We caught them meeting up with a green jeep in the middle of nowhere half way through their route and we walk up to them and they drive off in a different direction,” said Harris.

“I wanted to see what the ballots looked like when Butch and Hoppy take them off the truck, well sure enough they didn’t have seals on them and some of them weren’t even closed – they had the box top open with big gashes and tears in them,” said Harris, who also revealed how officials left ballots in their offices and did not store them in secure vaults.

“Every way that it could break down it seemed to have broken down,” said Harris, “Even to the extent of just not following procedures”.

“How can you say that you can open someone’s ballot box without them present?” asked Harris.

Based on her experiences with the sham nature of the process, Harris called for the resignation of the Secretary of State Gardener and his assistant David Scanlan.

“I think assistant Secretary of State David Scanlan, who is actually their operations guy, should be dismissed from his position and the Secretary of State should resign, and they need to refund the money for both candidates and recount all those ballots in public,” said Harris.

“What they’re doing here is a criminal enterprise,” she added, “It has all the earmarks of it.”

Ron Paul Can Win Maine
Ron Paul Can Win Maine

Gambling 911
January 28, 2008

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMiBUyyjjj4

With many of Ron Paul’s supporters still believing their Republican Presidential candidate will have won Louisiana and its delegates, the focus for many is now on the state of Maine.

“Maine has 21 delegates that Paul has a serious potential of winning,” points out Natalie Schultz of the Nolan Chart.

“Why can Ron Paul truly win Maine? Because outside of the political elite urbanites who control the state, the majority of real Mainers are very anti-government gun-lovers. Huckabee is gaining a Christian following, but truthfully, most Mainers are old-school Christians, not Evangelicals.”

Paul has planned to campaign in Maine on Monday January 28.

To date, says Maine Republican Party Executive Director Julie O’Brien, activity on behalf of the various GOP presidential hopefuls is relatively high.

“I mean the phone is not stopping,” she says.

Supporters of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee are busy and those backing Sen. John McCain of Arizona and ex-Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts are stepping up their efforts, according to O’Brien.

She says former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has a presence.

But most active?

“If I had to say,” ventures O’Brien, “Ron Paul,” the Texas congressman.

Schultz believes that Ron Paul is wasting his time following the other Republican candidates around “winner take all” Florida, where both Mitt Romney and John McCain lead by a large margin. It should be noted that Rudy Giuliani is already down to 5.5/1 odds of winning Florida at BetUS.com compared to McCain’s 2/1 odds and Romney’s even odds. Ron Paul came in with 40/1 odds of winning the state and this is one bet even his own supporters are not likely to place money on.

“No matter how much time and money Paul spends there, he will not win. The die-hard Paul supporters there will vote for him no matter what. It’s high-time he moves on to fresh waters were there are many fish waiting to bite.”

In fact, Ron Paul has had nominal media exposure here in South Florida where a campaign like his would actually be welcome. But someone dropped the ball.

Those of us here on Miami Beach, for example, got a preservationist Cuban female with no money into the office of Mayor – Matti Herrera Bower. She went up against investor and “friend to the real estate developers” Simon Cruz as a big underdog. In the end, Bower won through similar grass roots efforts employed by the Ron Paul camp (including press releases submitted by Gambling911.com parent company, Costigan Media), with the swing vote came from those who typically don’t head out to the polling booths – Her 10 percent win margin came from the young voters. More registered voters under the age of 30 came out to vote for Herrera Bower than in any previous Miami Beach election, something the new Mayor has expressed great appreciation for.

People who have never voted before (and those who have never taken part in polls) are ready to do so now. Florida makes things difficult, however. One must be a registered Republican in order to vote for the long time Congressman without the ability to switch parties if you happen to be an Independent, Democrat or never voted before.

So even though the potential is there for Florida (and make no mistake about it – anything over 7% of the vote will be considered a victory by the Paul campaign), the focus has shifted elsewhere.

We already realize this election is more differentiated than ever by state. Just look at the results for both Republicans and Democrats where, in theory, there really is no clear front runner just yet.

Impressive showings in Nevada and Louisiana have instilled new life into the Ron Paul campaign.

In Maine, if you are registered to vote but not enrolled in ANY party (you are listed as “Unenrolled” on our towns voter list), you can enroll as Republican 30 minutes before the caucus at the location of the caucus.

If you are enrolled as a Democrat or Green Independent and you wish to participate in the Republican Caucus, you must change your enrollment at least 15 days prior to the caucus at your town office. Unfortunately, at this juncture in time, that deadline has already come and gone. The Maine Republican Caucus takes place February 2 in most towns (while technically running throughout Super Bowl weekend, February 1 – 3).

Ron Paul Comes In 2nd In Louisiana

Gambling 911

Fbiiraqisbein_mn

Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul enjoys yet another second place finish in a state caucus. This time it’s Louisiana.

The Louisiana contest, however, is not a battleground state in the race for the Republican nomination as candidates have focused on bigger prizes in South Carolina and Florida.

Fred Thompson dropping out of the race helped boost Paul’s vote count.

If Thompson had still been in the race, a Louisiana political source explained to NR, his state delegate strength in Louisiana would have been enough to potentially get him all of the state’s 47 national delegates. The one big problem, though, is that he dropped out only hours before he finally won something.

John McCain won the state Tuesday.

Louisiana voters have become disenchanted with its state’s stance against online gambling. Ron Paul is against Internet gambling prohibition.

FMNN
January 22, 2008

It’s been a great few days to be a supporter of Ron Paul, and not only because of the successful fundraising day or our great second-place showing in Nevada.

On the endorsement front, Ron Paul has won the support of three significant public figures in the last two days.

Yesterday, former New Mexico Governor Gary “Veto” Johnson announced that he is supporting Dr. Paul for president. Governor Johnson is an icon to small-government conservatives and libertarians for his long-standing commitment to the principles of the Founders. You can read our press release here.

This morning, Ron Paul also received the glowing endorsement of Donald L. Luskin, a prominent financial commentator on CNBC and Chief Investment Officer for Trend Macrolytics LLC. You can read Don’s editorial in National Review about why Ron Paul is right for America here.

Finally, Dr. Paul hosted a press conference this morning with well-known pro-life activist Norma McCorvey, better known as ‘Jane Roe’ from the infamous Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade. Much more good news about the campaign is coming soon.

FOX News Ignores Ron Paul’s 2nd Place Nevada Win

Nevada Caucus – Fox News: Ron Paul nonexistent with 14%

Third Party Watch
January 20, 2008

For some reason, Fox News continues to disregard the fact that Ron Paul is one of the GOP presidential candidates and he didn’t ignore Nevada like most of the presidential candidates.

I received the graphic above in my e-mail (click to enlarge) and don’t know to whom the credit is due. However, this screenshot was obviously taken of Fox News coverage of the Nevada results. For some reason, they failed to mention the 2 candidate, although they covered 1, 3 and 4.

Of course, most folks can easily figure out that Ron Paul was the candidate they “accidentally” forgot to cover.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=sFXqUgRxtzY

Considering Paul’s exclusion from the New Hampshire debate, this incident, and a variety of snide remarks made by Fox commentators, it’s starting to look like Fox News has a political agenda. I wonder how this squares with campaign finance regulations, as corporations aren’t supposed to be making in-kind contributions to federal campaigns. I may disagree with the regulations, but it seems that John McCain shouldn’t be able to benefit like this from a regulation which bears his name.

UPDATE: It looks like Fox is continuing with the same general level of distortion regarding incoming South Carolina results. I’ve been watching the results come in at CNN and haven’t seen any point around the time this particular screen shot was taken when Giuliani was ahead of Paul.

Ron Paul Bags Second In Nevada Caucus

Small Government Times

So-called long shot candidate Ron Paul managed to finish 2nd place in the Nevada caucuses held today, which proves the Texas Representative may have more support around the country, and especially out west, than he’s getting credit for.

Romney destroyed the competition in Nevada with over 50% of the vote and finished first. Ron Paul came in second with 13%, and John McCain finished third, also with 13% but with fewer popular votes than Paul.

Independents overwhelmingly supported Paul in the western state, which clearly helped propel Paul into a much needed second place finish. Normally, independents support the much more liberal John McCain.

Fred Thompson finished fourth, Mike Huckabee fifth and Rudy Giuliani, again falling far short of popular expectations, came in a distant sixth place. Duncan Hunter rounded out the GOP candidates with a seventh place finish, barely picking up 2% of the vote.

Huge Diebold Disparities Uncovered In New Hampshire Recount

Huge Diebold Disparities Uncovered In New Hampshire Recount
Memory cards missing as attorney voices concerns about transparency

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 18, 2008

Huge disparities between votes cast on Diebold electronic voting machines and actual hand counted tallies are emerging during the New Hampshire recount, with Hillary Clinton gaining the most from over a hundred unaccounted for votes in one Manchester Ward.

The recount in Manchester’s Ward 5 revealed a disparity whereby establishment candidates received over a hundred ‘black hole’ votes between them that could not be tallied during the hand count.

  Diebold Result Hand Count
CLINTON 683
619
EDWARDS 255 217
OBAMA 404 365

At the moment there is no indication of where these extra votes came from, but the figures again cast the accuracy of Diebold voting machines into severe doubt and provide further evidence of the need for a return to hand counted paper ballots only in all federal elections.

Brad Friedman at The Brad Blog continues to provide great coverage of the recount, unlike New Hampshire’s foremost news outlet WMUR, whose “only source seems to be whatever (New Hampshire Secretary of State) Gardner tells them,” according to Friedman.

In addition, 550 ballots in Stratham were not read by the Diebold machines at all and were rejected as blank ballots.

Voting Rights attorney John Bonifaz also told Friedman of his deep concerns about the transparency of both the initial election as well as the recount.

“I’m very concerned that this is not a fully transparent process that is happening there,” he said.

Diebold memory cards used in New Hampshire, which have been proven to be vulnerable to hacking and could easily be used to steal an election, are “missing” according to state officials.

Bonifaz, “Says he was told by Secretary of State William Gardner that his office doesn’t get involved in tracking what happens to those memory cards. Some have reportedly been returned to LHS, and may have had their memory erased already,” reports Friedman.

“When you have a private company counting 80% of the votes, and you later learn that the memory cards are unaccounted for, you have a serious question about the transparency and accountability in that process,” Bonifaz said.

Federal law mandates that all materials from elections be preserved for 22 months thereafter, so if the memory cards have been wiped then LHS Associates, who it was revealed last week had hired a narcotics trafficker to a high-level executive position, would be facing criminal charges.

In another shocking development, vote fraud expert Bev Harris witnessed first hand that a majority of ballot boxes had 8 inch slits in their side. Election Defense Alliance’s Sally Castleman followed the boxes back to the ballot vault and also noticed the cuts. Read Bev’s report here.

New Hampshire ballot boxes found slit

Bev Harris
Black Box Voting
January 18, 2008

No worries, say New Hampshire officials when cuts up to eight inches long are spotted in newly delivered ballot boxes. “The only seal that counts is the one on top.” Except the seal on top can be peeled off without leaving a trace, then reaffixed.

Black Box Voting has been doing a chain of custody exam for the New Hampshire Primary’s recount. On Wednesday night, Election Defense Alliance’s Sally Castleman mentioned a troubling observation: After following the ballots back to the ballot vault following Wednesday’s recount, she had the opportunity to enter the ballot vault, and noticed what looked like cuts, or slits, in the side of many ballot boxes. New Hampshire officials assured us that these cuts, which slice through the tape, seals and box itself do not permit access to the uncounted ballots, pointing to a label on the boxtop which they call a seal. But the “seal” can be removed, like a Post-it, and reaffixed. So it’s not a seal all! We wanted to know if the ballot boxes were slit while in the vault, in the transport van, or came from the towns with slits in them.
I confirmed this morning that many if not most of the boxes scheduled to be counted today had slits in them. I went out when a vanload of ballots arrived, and saw that they were slit at the time they arrived by van. Susan Pynchon and I drove to two nearby towns and watched as they handed over their ballot boxes to “Butch and Hoppy”, the two men who drive around in the state in a van picking the ballots up. We observed as they loaded boxes of ballots into the van with no slits at all in them. We videotaped each of these up close. They arrived at the destination without slits. The label on the top was affixed, but in some cases was crumpled, or also damaged.Of course, the label affixed to the top can be removed and reattached without telltale signs. No vault tonightA significant departure from the normal chain of custody path occurred tonight. They decided not to use the vault to store the ballots.

Ron Paul Against New Hampshire Recount

Official Statement from Ron Paul On New Hampshire Recount

Ron Paul
Prison Planet
January 13, 2008

Fbiiraqisbein_mn

After a careful investigation, I have decided against seeking a recount in New Hampshire. I am confident that not asking for a recount is the right decision.

I carefully considered the arguments for and against a recount before instructing my campaign staff not to pursue it. Without a firm belief that vote fraud had taken place, and without the possibility that a recount would have increased the chances for success of our campaign, a recount would have diverted campaign resources, time, and energy away from crucial battles elsewhere.

We have taken concerns about vote fraud seriously. In Iowa, campaign volunteers carefully monitored the caucuses. Campaign staff placed Paul supporters in every precinct to watch and verify the voting and count. We had supporters phone in results from their precincts to a campaign hotline while others ensured that those numbers were reflected on the official display board at the Polk County Convention Center. The numbers our caucus watchers reported agreed with the official tally, and both results also aligned with the campaign’s internal polling. In relatively pro-Paul counties, our sampling pegged support at 11.5%. This is consistent with an overall 10% finish for the entire state.

In New Hampshire, while I would have hoped for a better result than eight percent, I am convinced that vote fraud played no role in this result. Rumors of vote fraud were investigated, and in the end they proved to be the result of errors in early media reports that were not reflected in the official numbers. In one notable case, when a campaign staff member contacted an individual who had on the evening of January 8 claimed that his vote had not been counted, the person said that he had made a mistake and that the next morning the error in reporting on a newspaper website had been corrected both in the media and — most importantly — in the official tally.

Many have expressed concerns that those ballots counted by machine yielded a 2% lower total than those counted by hand. However, machine counted vote totals were more than 2% lower for both John McCain and Mike Huckabee. Hand counted votes were more likely to be cast in rural areas. Results almost always vary between urban and rural areas.

My campaign staff and I have analyzed the numbers in New Hampshire and I have reached the conclusion that it was the high turnout — not vote fraud or counting errors — that left us with eight percent of the vote. Our total vote count of over 18,000 votes was well within what we projected given the efforts of our extensive statewide get-out-the-vote program, giving me no reason to believe that vote fraud played any role in the results of the Granite State’s primary.

In both Iowa and New Hampshire there is much to be proud of. Taking both states together, I am honored that over 30,000 people cast their vote for me — more than either Rudy Giuliani or Fred Thompson. Unlike many other candidates’ efforts, our campaign for freedom is growing and our message is spreading.

Now is the time to redouble our efforts. Our resources must be spent on the upcoming primaries and caucuses, and on ensuring that, with your help, we organize every state yet to vote with our Precinct Leaders program.

We can’t win primaries and caucuses that have already happened — but we can win those yet to come. To become the Republican presidential nominee, a candidate must have 1,191 delegates. Iowa, Wyoming and New Hampshire determined only 32 delegates, so we have much opportunity remaining.

Today, I ask you to join me in focusing on the battles ahead as we continue our fight for liberty and our Constitution.

Sincerely,

Ron Paul

Kucinich Backs New Hampshire Recount

Kucinich Backs New Hampshire Recount
Vote fraud expert Bev Harris warns he could be walking into a trap

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 11, 2008

Citing “serious and credible reports, allegations and rumors” about the integrity of Tuesday’s results, Congressman Dennis Kucinich is backing a full recount of ballots for the Democratic contest in New Hampshire, meaning that both party’s primaries may now both be cast into doubt. However, vote fraud expert Bev Harris has warned that it could all be a trap to validate Diebold electronic voting machines.

As we reported yesterday, New Hampshire Republican candidate Albert Howard is prepared to put his name behind a primary recount in order to ascertain if the example of “human error” in the town of Sutton, where Ron Paul was originally given zero votes, was an isolated case or if wider vote fraud took place.

Kucinich’s motivation for demanding a recount is the highly suspicious way in which Hillary Clinton reversed a 13 point pre-polling deficit to defeat Barack Obama, aided by a 7% swing thanks to the use of Diebold electronic voting machines.

“Kucinich alluded to online reports alleging disparities around the state between hand-counted ballots, which tended to favor Sen. Barack Obama, and machine-counted ones that tended to favor Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. He also noted the difference between pre-election polls, which indicated Obama would win, and Clinton’s triumph by a 39 percent to 37 percent margin,” reports the Associated Press.

No doubt the Congressman is referring to this website, the Brad Blog and others who led the charge in exposing probable vote fraud in the hours after the primary.

Though Kucinich has cautioned that he doesn’t expect the recount to produce significantly different results, vote fraud expert Bev Harris warns that unless chain of custody issues are addressed before a recount, the recount itself is worthless because it will be overseen by the same people who committed vote fraud in the first place if indeed there was any chicanery.

In addition, should the recount produce exactly the same results it will validate Diebold electronic voting machines despite the fact that they have been proven to be wide open to fraud.

“A candidate asking for a recount may well be a tool used to ‘prove’ everything was okay and then that candidate will be further discredited,” reports Harris.

“We need citizen control and oversight. This is not going to come from the recount. If the election was rigged…don’t you think the riggers would have a backup Plan B for a rigged recount, knowing how easy it is to get a recount in NH?,” she concludes.

Ken Hajjar, Director of Diebold’s Exclusive Sales & Service Provider in New England Pled Guilty to Criminal Charges in 90’s

Brad Blog
January 9, 2008

Does the Secretary of State of New Hampshire have any idea that a key executive in the private firm that programs and “counts” 80% of the state’s ballots on hackable, error-prone Diebold voting machines is a convicted narcotics trafficker?

In 1990, Ken Hajjar, the Director of Sales and Marketing for LHS Associates, and childhood friend of company owner John Silvestro, was arrested and pled guilty to charges which earned him a 12 month sentence, according to documents received via a public records request and posted this evening at BlackBoxVoting.org.

LHS Associates, as BBV’s Bev Harris points out, programs “every single voting machine in New Hampshire, Connecticut, almost all of Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine.”

New Hampshire District ADMITS Ron Paul Votes Not Counted

New Hampshire District ADMITS Ron Paul Votes Not Counted
Sutton township reported Congressman had zero votes, actual number was 31

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 9, 2008

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBfmksI_wYY

The head clerk of the New Hampshire town of Sutton has been forced to admit that Ron Paul received 31 votes yet when the final amount was transferred to a summary sheet and sent out to the media, the total was listed as zero. The fiasco throws the entire primary into doubt and could lead to a re-count.

As we reported earlier today, an entire family voted for Ron Paul in Sutton, yet when the voting map on the Politico website was posted, the total votes for Ron Paul were zero.

Vote fraud expert Bev Harris contacted the head clerk in Sutton, Jennifer Call, who was forced to admit that the 31 votes Ron Paul received were completely omitted from the final report sheet, claiming “human error” was responsible for the mistake.

Two or three votes not counted could be a plausible mistake – but 31 votes for one candidate?

“The classic method for rigging a hand count is to write the wrong number on the form,” Harris told the Alex Jones Show.

“They are counting everything in public real nice, they fill out a form in public real nice and then they transfer it to another form and they call that a summary sheet and then that is the one they send in,” explained Harris.

“What happened is she said they did not transfer the number correctly and put zero instead of 31 – that is unacceptable as an answer.”

With 100% of precincts now reporting, the map originally listed zero votes for Ron Paul as you can see below. It has now been updated to reflect the 31 votes Paul actually received.

The remainder of the 31 people in Sutton who voted for Ron Paul need to go public immediately with the charge of vote fraud and make it known that they were cheated out of their right to vote.

Harris estimates that it could cost the Ron Paul campaign as much as $67,000 dollars for a recount, but such a move could throw the entire primary into doubt, especially in light of the fact that Barack Obama appears to have been cheated out of a win by Hillary Clinton.

Clear Evidence Of Widespread Vote Fraud In New Hampshire
Paul and Obama cheated out of 3rd and 1st by voting machines, hand count fraud

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 9, 2008

There were several major vote fraud issues to arise out of the New Hampshire primary revolving mainly around Ron Paul and Barack Obama, who were both seemingly cheated out of third and first places respectively as a result of rigged Diebold voting machines and deliberate malfeasance in the counting of hand-written paper ballots.

– Obama had a 13 to 15 point lead over Hillary Clinton heading into the primary. Nothing occured that boosted Hillary’s numbers immediately before the election, in fact immediately after the staged crying incident, many pundits argued it could only have harmed her chances. And yet Hillary somehow managed to instigate a near 20 point swing to defeat Obama by three per cent. If not for her 7% swing as a result of Diebold voting machines, Hillary would have lost to Obama. If Obama was struggling he would probably contest this bizarre outcome, but he is likely to accept the results simply to save face.

The New Hampshire town of Sutton admits that it voided every vote Ron Paul received. The Congressman got 31 votes and yet due to a “human error,” Sutton reported zero votes for Ron Paul. How “human error” can explain not counting 31 votes in succession for one single candidate is beyond the pale and Ron Paul’s campaign should ask for a recount across New Hampshire immediately.

– As soon as people went public with the fact that their votes in Sutton had not been counted, other districts where Paul had supposedly received zero votes, such as Greenville, suddenly changed their final tallies and attributed votes to the Congressman.

– Going into New Hampshire Ron Paul was polling in the early teens and was a strong bet to take third place behind McCain and Romney. Four days before the vote, Rasmussen had Paul at 14% – a significant lead over Huckabee on 11% and Giuliani on 8% – and yet Ron Paul finished with just 8%. Proof of clear vote fraud, allied with the fact that Paul’s numbers show a 6% swing from normally accurate pre-polling forecasts, clearly indicate chicanery was at hand, especially considering the fact that Paul lost those crucial few percentage points to Giuliani as a reuslt of electronic Diebold voting machines which are known to be wide open to tampering and fraud.

Going purely on hand-counts, which as we saw in Sutton were by no means angelic but at least harder to cheat on than Diebold voting machines without getting caught, Ron Paul would have won 15% of the vote and finished third. This figure would have more accurately correlated to the pre-primary polls rather than the ridiculous 8% he was eventually given.

Numerous districts reported totals of anything up to 22% for “other candidates”. What on earth does this black hole of “other candidates” mean? How can one vote for a candidate that is not on the ballot without spoiling the ballot paper? The district of Lisbon reported 22.5% votes for this mysterious “other” candidate, while in the large district of Londonderry, the “other” candidate received 10%. Many are now alleging that these “other” votes were merely siphoned from Ron Paul to keep his final number low.

– Rudy Giuliani, the 9/11 candidate who beat Ron Paul thanks to the aid of a 3% swing on Diebold voting machines, received 9.11% of the vote in three different towns. Coincidence or somebody’s idea of a sick joke?

Vote Fraud Expert Warns Of New Hampshire Chicanery

Vote Fraud Expert Warns Of New Hampshire Chicanery
Key vulnerabilities of Diebold machine identified within ten minutes by programmer

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 8, 2008

“It’s not who votes that counts. It’s who counts the votes.” Joseph Stalin.

Vote fraud expert Bev Harris has warned that New Hampshire’s electronic voting machines are wide open to fraud and that even modestly skilled computer programmers were able to identify key vulnerabilities within ten minutes of assessing them as key Democrat and Republican primaries unfold today.

The contract for programming all of New Hampshire’s Diebold voting machines, which combined will count 81 per cent of the vote today, is owned by LHS Associates, which also holds the contracts for Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

LHS is owned by John Silvestro, who has been at the center of a long-running public dispute in trying to deflect accusations made by hacker Harri Hursti that the machines can easily be rigged.

“The exact same make, model and version hacked in the Black Box Voting project in Leon County is used throughout New Hampshire, where about 45 percent of elections administrators hand count paper ballots at the polling place, with the remaining locations all using the Diebold version 1.94w optical scan machine,” writes Harris.

One area of disagreement between Hursti and Silvestro was the amount of expertise needed to exploit the Diebold 1.94w optical scan system. Silvestro claimed (in a strange contortion of reasoning) that he doesn’t hire very skilled programmers, implying that this makes New Hampshire elections more secure.

Hursti pointed out that hiring programmers with a lack of knowledge is generally not considered a security feature, and also that an average high schooler can learn to exploit the system in two days to two weeks.

In this You Tube video, Silvestro constantly interrupts Hursti’s testimony in front of the New Hampshire legislative.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiiaBqwqkXs

After purchasing a Diebold 1.94w machine, a computer repair shop employee picked at random by Black Box Voting was able to zero in on the system’s vulnerable memory card within just ten minutes.

Harris points out that LHS is a private company that will count over four fifths of the New Hampshire vote with no oversight whatsoever.

LHS is not subject to public records requirements, as the government is, at least, not in New Hampshire. The control over memory card contents is absolute; when cards malfunction or get lost, LHS brings the replacements. Since LHS maintains the machines, repairs the machines, and replaces the machines — often on Election Day — when they malfunction, they have intimate access to the chips, sockets, ports, communications devices and other electronic components.

A recent CNN report featured on Lou Dobbs’ show highlights just how easy it is to hack a voting machine and change how votes are tallied with just rudimentary programming skills. Experts warn that it takes only a minute for an unsupervised machine to be inserted with a virus and hacked.

NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno felt Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul got a raw deal from Fox News after he was excluded from their Sunday night debate.
“He (Ron Paul) is tied with Rudy Giuliani in the state of New Hampshire according to polls. He’s not an obscure candidate,” said Leno, who believes that Fox News excluded Paul simply because they do not like his politics.Supporters of Paul called for a boycott of Fox and all its sponsors last week following the news and the New Hampshire GOP later dropped their sponsorship of Sunday night’s Republican debate. An unprecedented 96% of AOL respondents believed it was unfair to keep the long time Texas Congressman out.Paul is beating Fred Thompson in New Hampshire according to polls while running tight with Giuliani. Both Thompson and Giuliani were invited to participate in the debate.CNN appears to be capitalizing on the Ron Paul fiasco by allowing pools of his supporters to hold signs behind Anderson Cooper throughout his Monday night broadcast, some holding signs that read: “Watch Ron Paul on Jay Leno Tonight”.“I think you got screwed over,” Leno told Ron Paul. He also expressed frustration that neither CNN nor MSNBC were really bringing up the exclusion. “I think this is a big story that’s getting ignored. I thought it was blatantly unfair.”Leno’s message will get out to plenty of people. Leno grabbed 7.2 million viewers last Wednesday, making his show the biggest on late night.

Fox News Used Planted Actor In Focus Groups

Fox News Used Planted Actor In Focus Groups

January 7, 2008

The credibility of Fox News is pretty much close to zero. It was bad enough that they refused to allow Ron Paul in their NH debate forum, but now they have been caught planting an actor in their supposedly random focus groups. Frank Luntz one of the chief propagandists for Fox News who organizes these focus groups has been caught planting people in focus groups in a clear attempt to distort reality. During tonight’s Fox News GOP debate, Luntz organized a focus group to provide feedback from so called random Republican voters. However, one of the people in the focus group was also used in a previous focus group Luntz organized for the September 5th, 2007 GOP presidential debate.

Paul Trades Fox for Jay Leno

Paul Trades Fox for Jay Leno

Reason
January 7, 2008

MANCHESTER, NH – Well, the choice was sort of made for him, but 24-odd hours after being bounced from the Fox News five-man forum, Ron Paul will be appearing on the Tonight Show. He’s en route to Los Angeles to shoot the show for Monday night. Ron’s son Rand and his friend ex-Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr. will be filling in at Paul’s campaign events until he returns Monday night.

I asked Paul if he had any problem breaking the writer pickets to appear on the show. Silly question: He doesn’t care about the unions or the pickets. And at his speeches at a Republican brunch (attended by almost 1000 people) and the Liberty Forum (attended by hundreds) But Paul backers in the state were enraged at the Fox shutout. At the Liberty Forum, so many people were organizing a Fox protest that Operation Live Free or Die sent out a request that Paul supporters chill out and devote their energy to an afternoon town hall instead. Some listened, but more than 200 materialized on Elm Street in Manchester to chant “Fox News Sucks!” and reel in local news teams. The Paul crowds were close to Frank Luntz’s debate focus group; after it was over, Luntz got the crowd to bet him $1000 that Paul would score 20 percent in the primary.

A little more from this afternoon: Paul will campaign at least until Feb. 5, by which time he’ll “reassess” the race.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Security is tight around the site for tonight’s Fox News Channel Republican forum at St. Anselm College. The forum will feature five Republicans, but Ron Paul was not invited. There are several security officers at every entrance to the college checking IDs. Two hours before the forum is scheduled to start there are already about 30 Paul supporters protesting on the sidewalk. There have also been unconfirmed reports about a small aircraft flying a banner reading “Ron Paul Revolution” around Manchester.

Ron Paul Buys Hour-long TV Program in New Hampshire

“Uninvited” to participate in FOX’s debate Sunday, Ron Paul decided to purchase an hour-long television slot that evening, because ‘I can afford it’

Union Leader
January 5, 2008

Ron Paul said yesterday that taking winning 10 percent of the Republican caucus results in Iowa puts him in solid standing for the New Hampshire primary, with its large contingent of independent voters.

Paul, a U.S. representative from Texas, said he captured 29 percent of the independent vote in Iowa, and “when we saw those statistics, we knew the obvious opportunities in New Hampshire” with its 44 percent of independent voters.

His supporters on the streets at midday yesterday were handing out miniature copies of the U.S. Constitution, led by the staccato of a drummer in Colonial dress and a tri-corner hat and chants calling for a revolution.

Last night, about 40 people at a house gathering heard Paul explain his plans for restoring constitutionalism, a political theory that he says means a major reduction in military commitments, ending trade agreements supported by subsidies and abolishing income tax with no proposed substitute.

Homeowner Linda Lagana and neighbor Cathy Whalen said they don’t have a second choice on the ballot, and Stephen Szewczyk of Nashua said he wouldn’t even vote in November if Paul doesn’t get the nomination.

Lagana said she was fed up with government spending and inflation, and if Paul did not get elected, a movement to get the support of legislators for stable economic policies would continue.

“This is not going away,” she said.

After being “uninvited” to participate in FOX’s debate Sunday night at St. Anselm College, Paul decided to purchase an hour-long television slot that evening, because “I can afford it.” (Note: When originally posted, this story misidentified the debate. Paul is in the January 5 ABC debate.)

He raised $20 million in the fourth quarter, more than any other Republican campaign.

Paul said he is going after the Republican nomination and has no interest in a third-party ticket.

He told his audience last night, “We are $2.7 trillion in debt, and history tells us that all great nations collapse due to economic reasons. It starts when the currency goes down, and right now on some days the Canadian dollar increases higher than the U.S dollar, and that should tell us something.”

Paul said the borrowing and printing of money creates economic inequities, because the people who get the printed and borrowed money first, notably the government, bankers and financial institutions, get to use it first, and that is an advantage.

He wants to transitionally abolish the Federal Reserve and its money-printing operations and many of the governmental institutions and their programs, such as military occupation, that create a need for foreign debt credits to restrain inflation and reinstitute local controls.

NH GOP Withdraws Support From Fox News Debate

NH GOP Withdraws Support From Fox News Debate

Daily Paul
January 5, 2008

CONCORD – New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen releases the following statement regarding Sunday’s Republican forum on FOX:

“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field. Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures. Consistent with that tradition, we believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums.

This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.

While we understand that FOX News continues to move forward it is with regret, the New Hampshire Republican Party hereby withdraws as a partner in this forum.”

The New Hampshire Republican Party has quit “with regret” as a co-sponsor of Sunday night’s nationally televised GOP forum on FOX News.

The 8 p.m. event at Saint Anselm College — the last debate before Tuesday’s primary — became controversial when FOX refused to include Ron Paul.

In a press release, state Republican Party chairman Fergus Cullen said on Saturday afternoon, “We believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums. This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.”

FOX News issued a one-sentence statement this afternoon from its vice president of news, David Rhodes: “We look forward to presenting a substantive forum which will serve as the first program of its kind this election season.”

“The New Hampshire Republican Party did the right thing by pulling its sponsorship,” said Ron Paul 2008 spokesman Jesse Benton, who called FOX’s continued refusal to admit his candidate “unfair.”

Paul is included in tonight’s ABC/Facebook/WMUR debate among top Republican contenders, which begins at 7 p.m.

Paul Doubles Polling Numbers, Third In New Hampshire
Ron Paul has doubled his support in New Hampshire over the past 15 days, according to Rasmussen Reports.

Nolan Chart
December 5, 2008

A daily poll by Rasmussen is showing Ron Paul has doubled his share of the vote in New Hampshire, jumping from 7% up to 14% in just 15 days. Obviously, this is major news. The Rasmussen website was so jammed with Ron Paul supporters earlier today trying to get to it right now that no one can get through. That alone shows the power of the Ron Paul revolution. We’re not talking about a boycott or a bunch of angry activists. We’re just talking about tens of thousands of people trying to view a web page because news has spread like wildfire throughout the net that Ron Paul is now polling in third place in New Hampshire.

While the Rasmussen page remains under seige from all the demand, you can read the actual numbers at pollster.com.

Ron Paul to Participate in ABC News Debate

Marisa Guthrie
Broadcasting & Cable
January 4, 2008

ABC News finalized the roster of participants for Saturday’s Republican and Democratic debates in New Hampshire, and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) — who has a small but vociferous following and finished ahead of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the Iowa caucus Thursday — will participate in the debate along with Giuliani, Rep. John McCain (R-Ariz.), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

The face-off begins at 7 p.m.

The Democratic field is decidedly smaller with Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.), Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Texas Gov. Bill Richardson.

Sens. Joe Biden (D-Del.) and Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) dropped out of the race after dismal showings in Iowa. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) did not meet ABC News’ criteria for inclusion, which included placing at least fourth in Iowa or polling 5% or higher in one of the last four reputable random New Hampshire or national surveys.

Sunday’s Republican forum hosted by Fox News Channel has drawn criticism from the Paul camp for excluding the long-shot candidate. Fox News invited Romney, Huckabee, McCain, Thompson and Giuliani to the New Hampshire forum, which will be moderated by Chris Wallace.

During coverage of the Iowa caucuses, Fox News’ Shepard Smith wondered out loud if his network shouldn’t reconsider inviting Paul to participate in the forum. Fox News has yet to announce any changes to Sunday’s forum.

Ron Paul: Fox News Is “Beyond A Joke”
Presidential candidate slams decision to exclude him from forum

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 4, 2008

Speaking to The Alex Jones Show today, presidential candidate Ron Paul commented on the controversy surrounding his exclusion from a Fox News January 6th presidential forum by encouraging supporters to keep up the pressure on the network to reverse their decision and slamming the network’s claim of being fair and balanced as “beyond a joke”.

“People are outraged and a lot of them are coming to our defense including the Republican Party up there so we haven’t heard the last word about that yet,” said Paul.

The Congressman identified the main reason for his exclusion as Fox News’ fear that he would express strong anti-war opinions, which they see as a “threat” when coming from the most conservative member of the house.

“They have to realize that what the numbers are and if it’s hurting them, if it’s not in their interests I think they’re in a bind, I don’t think they have any easy way out and they dug themselves into this situation so hopefully they wake up and realize that they have to come around to be much more fair and balanced, it’s gone beyond a joke for them to advertise they’re fair and balanced when they’re just the opposite,” said the Congressman.

Discussing the broader success of the campaign, Paul said, “Everybody’s upbeat and they wanna win but they are also very realistic to know what is the future regardless of what’s gonna happen….how can we keep working this, how can we keep our group together….I think we’ve really opened the eyes of a lot of people so there’s reason to be optimistic,” said Paul.

The Congressman added that the New World Order must be defeated not with weapons but with ideas and that the movement which he is now the figurehead for is much larger than he ever dreamed it would be.

“Most people thought that you’d have to be part of the establishment to get money and support but the supporters have proven that not only will they work hard and go out and do the legwork that is necessary but they’ll also send in the money and they’ll also be very creative,” added Paul.

Bill O’Reilly Admits He Is “Frightened” By Ron Paul
Fox News talking head says he agrees with decision to ban Congressman from presidential forum

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
January 3, 2008

Talking head blowhard Bill O’Reilly admitted on Fox News last night that Ron Paul frightens him and that he completely agrees with the decision to exclude him from a Fox presidential forum this weekend.

“Ron Paul, when you look at the totality of his positions, is a pretty frightening guy,” barks O’Reilly.

O’Reilly then proceeds to play a clip that proves the Congressman completely right and makes Billo look ridiculous.

The clip is from O’Reilly’s September 2007 interview with Paul in which he dismisses the Iranian threat and voices his opposition to the Neo-Cons spreading the war further throughout the middle east.

The fact that the CIA’s National Intelligence Estimate, which was released less than three months later, concluded that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003, is lost on Bill, who claims that Paul’s desire to bring American troops home puts the country in danger.

Reason Magazine’s Nick Gillespie ably puts Bill in his place.

Ron Paul’s 10% In Iowa Shocks Establishment Media

Ron Paul’s 10% In Iowa Shocks Establishment Media
Even Fox News’ own talking heads think decision to exclude from presidential forum should be reversed

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet

January 4, 2008

Ron Paul’s double digit support in Iowa has shocked establishment media figures who have long derided the Congressman as an insignificant candidate with just 2 or 3 per cent of the vote. Even Fox News’ own talking heads now agree that Paul should not be excluded from the upcoming presidential forum as campaign momentum builds.

Dr. Paul blew “national frontrunner” Rudy Giuliani out of the water, who got just 4% of the vote, and is handily placed behind McCain and Thompson heading into New Hampshire.

The Congressman’s strong showing has led to new calls for Fox News to reverse the decision to exclude him from the January 6th presidential forum, not from Ron Paul supporters but from Fox News’ own flagship hosts.

“Ten per cent is not insignificant – that’s a huge number,” said Fox’s Greta van Susteren, appearing with host Shep Smith last night. Smith noted that Paul had more than doubled Giuliani’s total.

“Should Fox News reconsider?” asked Smith, to which Susteren responded, “I’m not sure why he’s out of it (the forum).”

“Here you have a candidate that 10 per cent of the people caucused in his party really want him and it’s not like he’s an insignificant player,” she added.

“He didn’t just drop in yesterday to the process, he has been running for president for a long time, and certainly many of the issues he’s raised are rather provocative and certainly stimulate the debate, that’s not a bad thing – and why not pull up another chair?” Susteren concluded.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Larry King also noted Paul’s double digit finish during a discussion last night.

“Ron Paul I think is gonna be a factor in New Hampshire on the Republican side much more than he was in Iowa given all the Independents there so let’s not neglect Ron Paul when we’re talking about this,” remarked Blitzer.

Analyzing the Ron Paul Numbers in Iowa
There are a number of reasons to be encouraged by Ron Paul’s showing in Iowa.

Nolan Chart
January 4, 2008

The morning after Ron Paul’s stronger-than-expected 10% showing in Iowa was no surprise to Paul supporters (and probably disappointing to some), but it had to come as a bit of a surprise to most of the pollsters. Over the past week, most pollsters had Paul in the 5-8% range. So 10% pushes the limit on “margin of error” and suggests that Paul supporters have been right all along. His support is underrepresented in the polls.

Paul wasn’t the only candidate the pollsters were wrong about. Rudy Giuliani was consistently polling in mid-teen double-digits up until about a week ago, but he ended up at 4%. He had fallen to the 5-8% range within the past few days, but 4% has to be considered a monumental drop for him. Mike Huckabee’s poll numbers were consistently 5 points lower than what he actually got. The other candidates were pretty much in line with what the pollsters thought they would get.

It’s not a surprise that Huckabee picked up extra points the night of the caucus. People love to vote for the likely “winner,” which is probably where his extra 5% comes from, but the Giuliani and Paul numbers should give pollsters pause to reconsider. Essentially, it looks like Giuliani lost the lion’s share of his support to Paul and Huckabee.

CNN entrance polls are even more interesting when you look at them up close.

For instance (and not surprisingly) when asked to rate their feelings about the Bush administration, Paul supporters represented 54% of those said they were “angry” at Bush out of all “angry” voters. These represented only 5% of the overall totals, which is also not surprising given that most Republican activists are Bush supporters, but it’s very helpful in terms of understanding how much pull Paul could have among the overall electorate who tend to hold our current King George in relatively low esteem.

Paul was also the clear winner among Republican caucus goers who view themselves as being “independent” rather than identifying with the Republican party, with 29% of that group’s support (well ahead of Romney at 19%). Independents accounted for 13% of overall Republican caucus goers.

Paul’s support is stronger among lower-income Americans. He tied for third with John McCain with 14% of people making less than $50,000 a year, and scored a high of 18% (second place) among those making $15,000 to $30,000 annually.

He also finished a strong third among young Iowans. Voters in the 18-29 age range picked Paul 21% of the time, just one tick behind Romney who was in second place.

One thing I couldn’t find was any reference to what the results were among cell phone users. We may have to wait awhile before this information comes out, but it would be very interesting to see how much of Paul’s extra support came from voters who have cell phones but not land lines.

The Stages of Ron Paul
Ron Paul’s showing in Iowa is only a phase in a larger picture.

The Caucus held in Iowa last night is an important stage of the Ron Paul movement and cannot be discounted. Although the Mainstream media will ignore/discredit his numbers, they really do show positive hope for him. Here are 7 stages of his candidacy.

1- The first stage is when he announced he was running. this was about 9 months ago. He had few followers, (I was in this group) and was not taken seriously at all.

2- The second stage is the “few internet spammers” stage. This is when he was accused of having a few 16 year old kids in their moms basement as his supporters.

3- The Internet phenomenon. Online polls started picking up. The meetup groups started forming. It soon became apparent that he was a force online. This soon converted to the straw poll stage. Of course still not taken seriously.

4- The mass fundraising stage. Guy Fawkes says it all. The Boston Tea party showed the world that there is a real revolution going on… Still not taken seriously by MSM.

5- This is the stage we are in now. This is the stage where we find out if internet support can convert to real votes. It appears in Iowa, where Ron Paul did not campaign that much and has views unpopular for farmers had a very well outcome. This is the stage where the rubber meets the road so to speak.

6- The rising star stage. hopefully New Hampshire will propel him into the underdog gone mainstream status.

7- The Viable electable stage. He has the money already. He has a fervent base. He has proven he can bring people to the polls. He just needs the push to get here.

I say this to encourage. I cannot predict the future, but it seems like it could be well with him. Even when the MSM is gloom and doom, it is only spin, and might not be consistant with reality.
