Since 9/11, and seemingly without the notice of most Americans, the
federal government has assumed the authority to institute martial law,
arrest a wide swath of dissidents (citizen and noncitizen alike), and
detain people without legal or constitutional recourse in the event of
“an emergency influx of immigrants in the U.S., or to support the rapid
development of new programs.”
Beginning in 1999, the government has entered into a series of
single-bid contracts with Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and
Root (KBR) to build detention camps at undisclosed locations within the
United States. The government has also contracted with several
companies to build thousands of railcars, some reportedly equipped with
shackles, ostensibly to transport detainees.
According to diplomat and author Peter Dale Scott, the KBR contract
is part of a Homeland Security plan titled ENDGAME, which sets as its
goal the removal of “all removable aliens” and “potential terrorists.”
Fraud-busters such as Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles, have
complained about these contracts, saying that more taxpayer dollars
should not go to taxpayer-gouging Halliburton. But the real question
is: What kind of “new programs” require the construction and
refurbishment of detention facilities in nearly every state of the
union with the capacity to house perhaps millions of people?
Sect. 1042 of the 2007 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA),
“Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies,” gives the
executive the power to invoke martial law. For the first time in more
than a century, the president is now authorized to use the military in
response to “a natural disaster, a disease outbreak, a terrorist attack
or any other condition in which the President determines that domestic
violence has occurred to the extent that state officials cannot
maintain public order.”
The Military Commissions Act of 2006, rammed through Congress just
before the 2006 midterm elections, allows for the indefinite
imprisonment of anyone who donates money to a charity that turns up on
a list of “terrorist” organizations, or who speaks out against the
government’s policies. The law calls for secret trials for citizens and
noncitizens alike.
Also in 2007, the White House quietly issued National Security
Presidential Directive 51 (NSPD-51), to ensure “continuity of
government” in the event of what the document vaguely calls a
“catastrophic emergency.” Should the president determine that such an
emergency has occurred, he and he alone is empowered to do whatever he
deems necessary to ensure “continuity of government.” This could
include everything from canceling elections to suspending the
Constitution to launching a nuclear attack. Congress has yet to hold a
single hearing on NSPD-51.
U.S. Rep. Jane Harman, D-Venice (Los Angeles County) has come up
with a new way to expand the domestic “war on terror.” Her Violent
Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (HR1955),
which passed the House by the lopsided vote of 404-6, would set up a
commission to “examine and report upon the facts and causes” of
so-called violent radicalism and extremist ideology, then make
legislative recommendations on combatting it.
According to commentary in the Baltimore Sun, Rep. Harman and her
colleagues from both sides of the aisle believe the country faces a
native brand of terrorism, and needs a commission with sweeping
investigative power to combat it.
A clue as to where Harman’s commission might be aiming is the Animal
Enterprise Terrorism Act, a law that labels those who “engage in
sit-ins, civil disobedience, trespass, or any other crime in the name
of animal rights” as terrorists. Other groups in the crosshairs could
be anti-abortion protesters, anti-tax agitators, immigration activists,
environmentalists, peace demonstrators, Second Amendment rights
supporters … the list goes on and on. According to author Naomi Wolf,
the National Counterterrorism Center holds the names of roughly 775,000
“terror suspects” with the number increasing by 20,000 per month.
What could the government be contemplating that leads it to make
contingency plans to detain without recourse millions of its own
citizens?
The Constitution does not allow the executive to have unchecked
power under any circumstances. The people must not allow the president
to use the war on terrorism to rule by fear instead of by law.

Exclusive video of emergency official Barry Jennings discussing explosions inside WTC 7 before either of the twin towers had collapsed and having to step over dead bodies of victims as he attempted to vacate the building has been released for the first time.
The clip, which was originally intended to feature in Loose Change Final Cut but had to be withdrawn according to Jennings’ wishes after he had received threats, has now been made public in anticipation of a BBC documentary about Building 7 which is expected to skew Jennings’ account in an attempt to reinforce the official story.
In reality, what Jennings witnessed completely contradicts the official story of what happened to Building 7.
On the morning of 9/11 in his capacity as Deputy Director, Emergency Services Department, New York City Housing Authority, Jennings and Michael Hess, who is a founding Partner and Senior Managing Director of Giuliani Partners LLC, visited the Office of Emergency Management inside Building 7 only to find it had been abandoned.
“Upon arriving into the OEM EOC, we noticed that everybody was gone,” said Jennings. “I saw coffee that was on the desk, the smoke was still coming off the coffee, I saw half-eaten sandwiches,” he stated, adding that he and Hess were told to leave the building right away.
Jennings and Hess found a stairwell and descended the stairs.
“When we reached the 6th floor the landing that we were standing on gave way, there was an explosion and the landing gave way, I was left there hanging, I had to climb back up and walk back up to the 8th floor,” said Jennings.
“The explosion was beneath me….so when the explosion happened it blew us back….both buildings (the twin towers) were still standing,” he added.
“I was trapped in there for several hours, I was trapped in there when both buildings came down – all this time I’m hearing all kinds of explosions, all this time I’m hearing explosions, said Jennings, adding that when firefighters took them down to the lobby it was in “total ruins”.
“For me to see what I saw was unbelievable,” said Jennings.
The firefighters kept saying to Jennings “do not look down” because, according to Jennings, “we were stepping over people and you can tell when you’re stepping over people.”
A police officer then told Jennings, “you will have to run because we have reports of more explosions.”
“I’m just confused about one thing….why World Trade Center 7 went down in the first place – I’m very confused about that – I know what I heard I heard explosions,” said Jennings, adding that the explanation that the explosions were as a result of fuel oil tanks in the building did not add up.
“I’m an old boiler guy, if it was a fuel oil tank it would have been one side of the building,” he stated.
Footage inside the Millennium Hilton building lobby, which was closer to the WTC twin towers than Building 7, shows minimal damage after both towers had collapsed in comparison with devastating damage in the lobby of WTC 7, as reported by Jennings, before either tower had even collapsed.
Jennings’ eyewitness report of explosions inside WTC 7 before the towers had collapsed as well as dead bodies inside the building completely contradicts the official story, which maintains that there were no fatalities inside Building 7.
If WTC 7 collapsed as a result of damage it sustained from the fall of the twin towers, as the official version claims, then why were explosions taking place inside the building before either tower had collapsed?
The BBC hit piece documentary, which airs on July 6th, features an interview with Jennings but according to Loose Change’s Jason Bermas, the program will distort Jennings’ comments in an attempt to sideline the shocking nature of what he witnessed and the blatant manner in which his experiences contradict the official story.
According to Bermas, during their interview with members of Loose Change, the BBC denied that Jennings had stepped over dead bodies when he left the building, a claim disproved by Jennings’ own statements in the video below.

TROTWOOD, Ohio (AP) – A policeman forced a pregnant woman to the ground and used a stun gun on her when she refused to answer the officer’s questions and resisted being handcuffed, authorities said Thursday.
The woman went to the police department in this Dayton suburb on Nov. 18 to ask officers to take custody of her 1-year-old son, said Michael Etter, Trotwood’s public safety director.
The woman told the officer she was “tired of playing games” with the baby’s father, Etter said. The woman refused to answer questions, became frustrated and tried to leave with the child, Etter said. The officer feared allowing her to leave could jeopardize the child and he decided to detain her to get more information.
He said the officer grabbed the woman, got the child away from her and forced her to the ground. When she resisted being handcuffed and tried to get away, the officer used the stun gun on her, Etter said.
The woman wore a winter coat and did not tell the officer she was pregnant, Etter said. “She was totally uncooperative,” he said.
The woman was arrested for obstruction and resisting arrest and transported to jail, Etter said. When she arrived at the jail, it was discovered that she was pregnant, and an officer took her to the hospital, he said. The condition of the woman and the fetus was not known.
The FBI is investigating the arrest and Etter said the police department is conducting its own probe to determine whether excessive force was used.
He said the officer remains on duty.

That’s the quote from Glenn Beck on CNN Headline News, Monday October 22 at about 9:15 pm EST. Mark this date and time on your calender as the exact moment in time when Glenn Beck denounced his right to be a valid member of the 4th branch of government in this country. If I was a black female basketball player and he was Imus, I just might sue.
Glenn admitted that 12% of Americans believe that the government was behind the attacks. He also brought up Charlie Sheen and Rosie O’Donnell as members of this dangerous group that is tearing apart America.
Glenn decided to bring on James Meigs, editor in cheif of Popular Mechanics, to put the American public back to sleep. James is utilized a lot in the mainstream media as a debunker. I guess the number of debunkers is really, really, really small. On the other hand the Truth Community has over 230 Architects and Engineers ready to explain the collapse. I assume he is on Geraldo’s speed dial and probably on call 24 hours a day now for putting out 9/11 Truth fires for all the networks. His explanation that Truthers look at small anomalies and blow them out of proportion and that they seek answers but don’t listen to the answers was quite cute. However I doubt that Mr. Meigs has called any of the firefighters or heroes who ran from those buildings that morning like William Rodriguez who dove under a fire truck, or John Shroeder who nearly jumped in the river or Kevin McPadden who got a 5 second headstart from the countdown of the demolition of Building 7. One day Mr. Meigs you will run from the collapse of your lies and deceptions to the American people.
Glenn did give 9/11 Truth fair time, just kidding, by inviting Michael Shermer from the Skeptics Society on to explain how these ideas get started in the first place and how he has thoroughly debunked all these claims. Incidentally the Skeptics Society Website has a UFO in the Banner. Great! So after Mike was done psychoanalyzing why Truthers believe Brave FireFighters over Cowardly Politicians with stock in Oil Companies and Defense Companies, Glenn determined to see if he did a good job for his bosses by posting a poll.

History Channel “Expert” Spins Conspiracy Yarn
Contradicts official story, claims WTC 7 fires began before either tower had collapsed

One of the experts the History Channel cited to debunk claims that the collapse of WTC 7 was a controlled demolition during its 9/11 Conspiracies: Fact or Fiction special Sunday night, spun a wild conspiracy yarn of his own, claiming that Building 7 burned for eight hours having caught fire before either of the twin towers collapsed.
Matthys Levy, P.E. is a structural engineer and also author of the book Why Buildings Fall Down.
He was one of the chief engineers for a study commissioned by WTC leaseholder Silverstein Properties Inc. to support a $7 billion insurance claim for the destruction of the World Trade Center complex. The investigation concluded that the twin towers collapsed as a result of the failure of support columns but the study did not touch upon why Building 7 fell.
Regarding WTC 7, “The initial fires started around 9:30 in the morning, so the building was allowed to burn for eight hours,” Levy told the History Channel during Sunday night’s broadcast.
However, according to the FEMA report and the official story, the fire broke out an hour later, immediately following the collapse of the north tower, having survived largely unscathed the collapse of the south tower over 30 minutes earlier.
At 10:29 a.m., WTC 1 (the north tower) collapsed,” reads Chapter 5 of the FEMA report, “Sending its debris into the streets below. The extent and severity of the resulting damage to WTC 7 are currently unknown. However, from photographic evidence and eyewitness accounts discussed below, it was assumed that the south side of the building was damaged to some degree and that fires in WTC 7 started at approximately this time.”
The report concludes by stating, “Approximately 7 hours after fires initiated in WTC 7, the building collapsed.”
Levy’s wild conspiracy theory, that fires in WTC were initiated before the collapse of either tower at around 9:30am and that the building burned for eight hours, seems to hint at some kind of sabotage, since the official story dictates that the cause of the fires was debris from the collapse of the north tower at 10:29am.
Levy: Someone find a tin foil hat for this guy because he’s out to lunch.
For the fires to have started half an hour before the collapse of the first tower, which was located on the opposite side of the complex, and a full hour before the collapse of the closer second tower, Levy seems to be hinting that some kind of foul play was involved.
To make such an assertion defies common sense, directly contradicts the official FEMA investigation into the collapse of WTC 7, and is also hurtful to the family members of the victims of 9/11.
Why the History Channel gave a platform to this nonsense and failed to point out the blatant factual inaccuracy of Levy’s claim is baffling.
Perhaps Popular Mechanics’ “experts” James Meigs, Benjamin Chertoff and their tea boy Davin Coburn should shift the full weight of their Hearst Publishing yellow journalism empire behind a move to debunk this kook!

As part of a catalogue of dirty tricks employed to smear the truth movement in its 9/11 Conspiracies: Fact or Fiction special, The History Channel used screenshots of an inane parody website and passed it off as representative of people asking questions about the official story.
During the introduction to the show, images from the website http://jewsdid911.ytmnd.com were flashed up and associated with the 9/11 truth movement.
The website is nothing more than a ludicrous fast moving slideshow of 9/11 images with giant letters that read “JEWS DID 9/11” superimposed on top. Some of the images contain the Star of David and more scribbled “Jews did 9/11” epitaphs appear on other shots in neon green type.
The sickening rapid images are accompanied by a distorted rave soundtrack which includes a crazed voice shouting the word “Deutschland” over and over again.
The website is part of the “You’re The Man Now, Dog” online community , which is a joke website where users create parody slideshows about pop culture – it has nothing to do with the 9/11 truth movement or any of the guests featured on the History Channel program.
Apologists and debunkers have attempted to dismiss the use of these images as “just a joke” – but their appearance in what was supposedly a serious documentary about 9/11 and in the context of the rest of the dirty tricks that were employed manifestly proves that they were deliberately included as part of a smear campaign to tar 9/11 truthers as kooks, extremists, racists and anti-Semites.
As we exposed yesterday , producer of the show Bradley Davis is a con man and a backstabber, a man who gains people’s trust and then betrays them for the purposes of producing salacious tabloid style hit piece documentaries.
He engaged in a plethora of different dirty tricks, malicious lies and journalistic fraud in order to portray 9/11 truth representatives as paranoid, uneducated crazies who were hurting the 9/11 families, while exalting so-called “experts” from Popular Mechanics, which is owned by Hearst “yellow journalism” Publishing, the same company that owns a controlling interest in the History Channel.
The inclusion of these completely unrelated and ridiculous images was obviously another stunt to frame 9/11 truthers as nutcases and completely violates every known standard of ethical journalism.
Brad Davis and the History Channel have destroyed any impartiality they had by broadcasting this monumental fraud and we invite History Channel bosses to consider making a new documentary that shows some aspect of neutrality and balance, should the station be interested in maintaining any semblance of credibility, but we know this is highly unlikely because their part owners Hearst Publishing have no interest in reasoned and fair journalism.

MP3: Alex Jones Responds to the History Channel Hit Piece
The History Channel 9/11 special that aired last night was by far the worst hit piece we have ever witnessed, a completely savage, dishonest and deceptive abomination, replete with dirty tricks, malicious lies and a level of journalistic fraud that goes way beyond simple bias.
Bradley Davis, the producer of the show, is a paid liar and a hit piece specialist who deceives people by gaining their confidence and then attacking them behind their back.
He is famous for the smear job documentary on Michael Jackson and makes a career out of conning people and then stabbing them in the back. His tongue is so smooth, that even the Loose Change crew were prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt on his impartiality before last night’s hit piece was aired, with Davis having tricked them into believing he was a friend.
Before filming began, Alex Jones asked Davis point blank if the documentary was going to be a hit piece, which Davis denied. After we brought attention to the History Channel’s blurb on their website, which clearly characterized the show as a hit piece, Davis panicked and promised to alter the promo, calling it a “misrepresentation,” as well as re-edit the entire program to make it more balanced. The promo temporarily disappeared from the website and the broadcast of the show was put back by a week.
During the course of this second exchange, Davis again promised Jones that the show was not going to be a hit piece and was very upset that we had discovered he was behind the NBC hit piece on Jackson – seemingly frightened that his cover might be blown and his next victim would be alerted to his scheming tricks. He was terrified and kept repeating that he didn’t want to be quoted on anything he said.
Just like Popular Mechanics swore that their straw man smear job wouldn’t be a hit piece, Davis engaged in journalistic fraud and complete dishonesty by lying directly to Alex Jones’ face in claiming the documentary was to be neutral just so he could secure the interview.
Just like William Randolph Hearst, the progenitor of the term “yellow journalism,” Davis will go down in history as a liar and a fraud.
The show itself was deliberately crafted, edited, shot and manipulated to portray the 9/11 truth movement in a completely negative light, while exalting the so-called experts to almost God-like status.
– The program makers pulled out all the stops to hire nationally renowned NBC news anchor Lester Holt (pictured) to narrate the show, a trusted voice that was utilized to brutally debunk 9/11 truth representatives.
– The debunkers, people like James Meigs whose scientific expertise stretches as far as being the editor of Video Review and Entertainment Weekly, were labeled as experts while real experts like Physicist Professor Steven Jones were stripped of any such description.
– The debunkers’ interviews were pristinely shot and framed, with beautiful backdrops and highly sympathetic camera angles and filters, whereas the truthers were shot from bizarre positions, their images were deliberately distorted and even the color filter of the shot had been manipulated to make their appearance look tainted, blurred and contorted. This was an intentional ploy and a crude act of manipulation to detract credibility from the truthers and violates all known ethical standards of journalism.
– The producers of the show failed to offer the proviso that Hearst Publishing, the owner of Popular Mechanics, also holds a controlling stake in the History Channel (via its stake in the A & E Television Network), therefore concealing from the viewer a blatant conflict of interest that negated the neutrality of the show before it had even begun.
– The debunkers were afforded far more time on camera while the truthers were sidelined.
– The narrator of the show would dismiss the questions and evidence raised by the truthers as unproven or debunked in an ad hominem manner without providing any evidence to justify the assertion.
– The truthers were edited so that only hesitant responses to questions were broadcast, casting doubt on the veracity of their claims in the mind of the unsuspecting viewer.
– The show included a clip of Alex Jones’ appearance at the University of Texas, at which around 500 people packed the lecture hall to hear his speech, but deliberately and maliciously edited the footage to include shots taken during recess, so as to make it appear that the lecture hall was mostly empty. In addition, lingering shots of empty chairs were included to further deceive the viewer into thinking few had attended the speech. This is journalistic fraud of the worse kind – a blatant misrepresentation and deliberate skewing of actual events.
– In a similar vein, footage from 9/11 truth protests was broadcast but the angle of the shot was always tight, so as to make out that few people had attended the demonstration, when in fact thousands were present.
– Davin Coburn of Popular Mechanics, mirroring a dirty trick that was also employed in the BBC hit piece, maliciously lied and smeared Alex Jones and others in the program by claiming that most of the 9/11 families hate them and that they are responsible for causing the families more pain. Coburn and the show’s producers know this is an outright lie and that the majority of the family members are asking the same questions as Alex Jones and others. Bill Doyle, representative of the largest group of 9/11 family members told the Alex Jones Show directly that over half of the family members have questions about the official story. Alex Jones and the Loose Change crew offered contact details for numerous 9/11 first responders, firefighters and family members that were asking questions of the official version, but absolutely none were interviewed by Brad Davis and the rest of the show’s producers.
– The producers of the show tried to make out that Loose Change had recanted their position on the issue of controlled demolition, when in fact Dylan Avery and the other members of the crew were merely using their Final Cut version to focus on other topics, having already covered controlled demolition at length in previous versions. This trick was used to claim that evidence for bombs and controlled demolition, which is attested to by scores of firefighters and first responders, none of which were interviewed by the producers, had been debunked.
– Articles and text from 9/11 truth websites were shown, but the actual URL addresses of the sites were blurred out, with the History Channel obviously frightened that people might actually visit such websites and find out that the program was a pack of lies.
– The debunkers attempted to wriggle out of Secretary Norman Mineta’s bombshell testimony about Cheney’s actions in the Emergency Operations Center, by claiming that Mineta was talking about Flight 93 and not the plane that hit the Pentagon. In reality, Mineta makes it clear in his testimony that he is talking about Flight 77, “the airplane coming in to the Pentagon,” and this is then confirmed by Commissioner Lee Hamilton.
– The debunkers admitted that temperatures inside the twin towers were not hot enough to melt steel, but claimed that they were hot enough to weaken steel and cause the collapse. The debunkers uniformly failed to address the fact that firefighters and first responders described witnessing molten steel beneath the rubble of the towers and they also ignored Professor Steven Jones’ scientific analysis of the iron-rich microspheres found in the rubble. In a website posting last night, Professor Jones stated that he emphatically pushed the dust analysis during his interview with the producers, but the topic was completely overlooked. The New York Times reported that the molten steel was “perhaps the deepest mystery uncovered” but the History Channel, mirroring NIST, failed to address the issue.
– The debunkers mentioned WTC 7 only in passing and completely failed to address why the building, which wasn’t hit by a plane, collapsed in 7 seconds into its own footprint after suffering only limited fire damage from falling debris. They also failed to mention why news outlets were reporting the collapse of Building 7 over an hour before it actually fell.
– The wargames that dovetailed 9/11 and deliberately confused NORAD personnel so as to slow response to the real attack were completely excluded.
– The Able Danger program and how the hijackers were discovered before 9/11 was completely excluded.
– The fact that the money man behind the hijackers, Pakistan’s ISI Chief Mahmoud Ahmad, was meeting with U.S. government and intelligence officials before and on the morning of 9/11, was completely excluded.
– William Rodriguez’ first-hand testimony of explosions prior to the impact of the planes was completely excluded, as was the testimony of numerous firefighters who attested to bombs and explosions.
– NBC reporter Pat Dawson claimed that FDNY Chief of Safety Albert Turi had only described explosions, not bombs, going off, contradicting Dawson’s own report at the time which stated, “Reports of a secondary device, that is another ‘bomb’ going off.”
After watching this two hour charade, Alex Jones was left stunned and irate that the producers had deliberately set out to create something that goes way beyond the scope of bias – an intentional propaganda attack piece strewn with manifestly provable lies, dirty tricks and misrepresentation, and that the show’s producers, and in particular Brad Davis, had purposefully lied all along in order to shield the fact that this was a savage hit piece of the highest order.
In comparison, The History Channel makes Fox News look fair and balanced!
Framing Alex Jones as a demon and making out that he is causing pain to 9/11 families, when in fact during our last visit to ground zero most of the firefighters and police personally thanked us, is a very serious allegation and we are waiting to see what kind of damages will accrue as a result while we consider our next step.
As we expected all along, Brad Davis and the rest of the charlatans at NBC, the History Channel and Popular Mechanics, have pleased their corporate masters by unleashing the most twisted, distorted, dishonest and savage hit piece in television history. They have shown their hand by deliberately abandoning any pretense at ethical journalism and delivering exactly what their Hearst “yellow journalism” Publishing and GE bosses demanded – a bias, malicious, deceptive, and manipulative tissue of lies and another reason for Americans to disengage from an establishment media empire that continues to hemorrhage viewers on a daily basis due to its ceaseless lies and propaganda.

History Channel, Popular Mechanics, NBC & Hearst Publishing team up for smear job as conflicts of interest run rife

An upcoming documentary entitled The 9/11 Conspiracies, to be aired on the History Channel, may represent the biggest hit piece to date on the 9/11 truth movement and is rife with bias, cronyism and conflicts of interest.
The so-called documentary promises not to look at the flaws in the official story from a neutral perspective but to start out by suggesting that any deviation from the official line is “outrageous”.
The program also features so called independent “experts” who are actually in the employ of the program makers themselves who in turn rely on scores of multi-million dollar contracts with the government and the military-industrial complex.
The program, scheduled for Sunday, August 12 at 8:00 PM and Monday, August 13 at 12:00 AM, will feature Alex Jones, the Loose Change crew and other 9/11 researchers such as Professor Steven Jones and Webster Tarpley.
One may therefore be forgiven for thinking the piece could allow for a fair representation of the 9/11 truth movement. However, a short blurb on the History Channel’s website sets a rather familiar one sided tone (click for screenshot).
An Internet search for “9/11 conspiracy theories” yields nearly two million hits. Were the attacks on 9/11 perpetrated by the Bush Administration to advance its own interests? Could a government missile have hit the Pentagon? As outrageous as these ideas may sound, many people believe them. Why do these theories arise in the first place? An interview with James Meigs, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Mechanics, who refutes many of these theories. Watch as experts in the fields of aeronautics, engineering and the military put these theories to the test.
This suggests that we should be prepared for more pseudo psychology as “experts” condescendingly explain why people turn to “conspiracy theories” for comfortable simple explanations of complicated world events. Maybe the History Channel will even seek the expert analysis of the former director of the X-files just as the BBC did in their own 9/11 hit piece which was broadcast earlier this year and received a great deal of criticism for its reliance on emotional bias and avoidance of the core issues.
In the same vein as the BBC piece, the new documentary will once again feature James Meigs, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Mechanics, who is neither an expert on 9/11 research nor on engineering, but rather is an expert on yellow journalism and shilling for the Bush Administration.
Meigs has an illustrious pedigree that puts him right up there with the professors and scholars that have studied 9/11 and the architects who designed the WTC – we just can’t decide which title to give prominence, his position on the editorial staff of that bastion of scientific empiricism Entertainment Weekly or the equally respected Video Review.
Meigs has flatly refused to debate 9/11 questions with either Alex Jones or the Loose Change producers and will now only appear unopposed.
Popular Mechanics is owned by Hearst Publishing. As fictionalized in Orson Welles’ acclaimed film Citizen Kane, William Randolph Hearst (pictured below) wrote the book on cronyism and yellow journalism and Popular Mechanics hasn’t bucked that tradition.
Enter the term “yellow journalism” in the Encyclopedia Britannica and one of the first entries you will see is William Randolph Hearst. The listing attributes to Hearst a legacy of “distorted” and “lurid” reporting, and cites him as being hugely influential in fanning the flames of the Spanish-American war as a result of his newspaper’s sensationalist yellow journalism.
Popular Mechanics is owned by the very corporation that defined yellow journalism!
Popular Mechanics is not politically independent nor is it non-partisan. Indeed, the foreword to Popular Mechanics’ Debunking 9/11 Myths book was written by Republican Senator and presidential candidate John McCain.
In the foreword, McCain re-hashes an abhorrent amount of Neo-Con detritus that relies solely on 9/11 having happened exactly as the government claims it did. “We liberated Afghanistan from the murderous rule of the Taliban, our attackers’ proud hosts. We chased Al Qaeda around the globe,” barks the Arizona Senator.
Does this sound politically neutral to you?
In addition, Popular Mechanics’ Debunking 9/11 farce has been thoroughly debunked itself and shown to be nothing more than a strawman assault based around nepotism, shoddy research and agenda-driven politics.
Hardly a good starting point for any serious or balanced investigation into 9/11 questions.
Further investigation into the makers of the new documentary also throws up a whole host of conflicts of interest.

Firstly, The History Channel is part of the A&E Television Network which is jointly owned by The Walt Disney Company (37.5%), The Hearst Corporation (37.5%), and NBC Universal (25%).
Immediately then it becomes apparent that the owners of Popular Mechanics are also the joint owners of the History Channel. Once again it is not a good starting point for a neutral investigation when the people you choose to represent one side of a factual debate are actually on the payroll.
No doubt there will be a great deal of advertising of Popular Mechanics’ 9/11 debunking book within the so-called documentary in order to fatten up Hearst’s profits.
Furthermore, the other joint owner of The History Channel, NBC Universal, is run by General Electric, the world’s second largest corporation and one of the major players within the military industrial complex.
GE is a major supplier of arms and the “war on terrorism” has seen GE’s government and military contracts rise substantially to over $2.2 billion.
In short GE really has very little to gain and a great deal to lose from probing into questions concerning the possibility of 9/11 being a military intelligence operation to seed the “war on terror” and to justify a huge increase in military activity around the globe.
We spoke to the producer Brad Davis about the upcoming show and he refused to comment on the conflicts of interest, but did tell us in a previous conversation that the show would not be a hit piece, so we will reserve full judgement until the documentary is aired and then it will become immediately apparant if Mr. Davis was telling the truth or not.
On average the History channel has up to 10 million viewers prime time in the US alone and their programs repeat ad infinitum for years. Infowars and Prisonplanet.com will be all over this program as soon as it airs exposing and countering each and every lie and piece of misinformation it contains, just as we have done with every other hit piece so far.
In the meantime, it would be fairer if the History Channel add a proviso, as do CNN when they carry a story about their parent company Time Warner, that their upcoming show is nothing more than an infomercial for the Popular Mechanics book Debunking 9/11 Myths and that any attempt to portray it as a neutral investigation would permanently taint the reputation of the channel as nothing more than a propaganda arm of the Bush administration in the same league as Fox News and Popular Mechanics.
