A new report out of left leaning globalist think tank the Brookings Institute confirms an agenda to re-brand the long running effort to merge the US, Canada and Mexico into a Federal superstate akin to the European Union.
The report was highlighted by author Jerome Corsi, who points out that the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America has become much maligned owing to it’s quasi secretive advancement of a North American integration agenda.
“Two top Washington think-tanks have now formally suggested in writing that the Obama administration should rename the SPP as a public relations ploy to advance the North American integration agenda without drawing so much flak from those of us interested in preserving U.S. sovereignty,” Corsi writes in his Red Alert newsletter.
In the Brookings Institute report, titled “Toward a New Frontier: Improving the U.S.-Canadian Border”, Christopher Sands, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, where he specializes on North American economic integration, suggests the Obama administration should continue the agenda of the SPP, but under a new name.
“Despite evidence that NAFTA has been beneficial on balance to American business, workers, and consumers the argument remains vilified by many as an unwarranted move to embrace globalization.” Sands writes.
“President Obama recognized this on the campaign trail in 2008, when he called for the renegotiation of NAFTA’s provisions to correct flaws in the original agreement. As a result, the Obama administration will most likely rename the SPP.” Sands concludes.
The report also suggests focusing more on the integration of the US and Canada as a priority, before bringing Mexico into the equation.
Sands suggests the following three courses of action:
1. “President Obama should borrow from the lexicon of the European Union and announce that the United States will proceed in negotiations with its two neighbors ‘at two speeds,’ moving ahead more quickly where possible with its developed neighbor Canada, and allowing Mexico to proceed more slowly as necessary.”
2. “The Obama administration is likely to want to ‘press the reset button’ on the SPP, an unpopular though valuable initiative that has improved policy coordination between the United States and its neighbors.”
3. “The SPP must be re-branded to win any kind of consensus support. The Obama administration recognizes this, and could take a few tactical steps to make the SPP (or its eventual successor) work better and win broader support.”
Sands defines his vision of the re-branded SPP as an effort “to build a truly ‘new frontier’ on the northern border,” adding that “President Obama’s community organizing experience suits him well for the task ahead.”
Sands is deeply entrenched in the integration agenda, being a member of the Advisory Committee to the U.S. Section of The North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to consult with U.S. government officials in negotiations under the SPP.
The NACC is essentially an elite advisory board comprised of 30 senior private sector representatives of North American corporations that were selected by the American, Canadian and Mexican governments at the June 2006 trilateral meeting in Cancun, Mexico.
Last year, one month prior to the SPP summit in April, documents were uncovered relating how the NACC was formed as part of a public relations overhaul to counter critics of the SPP.
The documents detailed how, through the NACC, corporate representatives were urged to “humanize” North American integration, promote NAFTA success stories to employees and unions and evolve the harmonization agenda “without fueling protectionism”.
The move was seemingly a response to the continued exposition of the integration agenda, which led to representatives within Congress petitioning the government on the secretiveness of the SPP and multiple states introducing resolutions calling on their federal representatives to halt work on the so called “North American Union”.
Earlier this week we revealed that president Obama is scheduled to attend this year’s SPP meeting in Mexico in August 9-10, slated as the “North American Leader’s Summit”.
“The key to understanding what is going on with the SPP under the Obama administration is the realization that globalists always proceed under a stealth agenda,” Jerome Corsi comments.
“Globalists typically mask their real plans to produce regional governments out of trade agreements by changing names and designing different structures when initial attempts to destroy nation-states are exposed and stalled by citizens who are still patriotic enough to cherish what remains left of their national sovereignty.”

I am pleased to report that last week we received notice that the Texas Department of Transportation will recommend the I-69 Project be developed using existing highway facilities instead of the proposed massive new Trans Texas Corridor/NAFTA Superhighway. According to the Texas Transportation Commissioner, consideration is no longer being given to new corridors and other proposals for a new highway footprint for this project. A major looming threat to property rights and national sovereignty is removed with this encouraging announcement.
Public outcry was cited as the main reason for this decision. I was very impressed to learn that the TxDOT received nearly 28,000 public comments on this matter, and that some 12,000 Texans attended the 47 public hearings held earlier this year. They could not ignore this tsunami of strong public opinion against the proposed plans. I was especially proud of how informed my constituents became on the subject, and how eloquently and respectfully they spoke and conducted themselves, considering how upsetting the plans were for our communities in Texas .
This is a major victory for the people of Texas , and a reminder of what we can accomplish with civic involvement. The informed and active citizen truly is a force to be reckoned with, as we have seen with the defeat of this proposal. We must keep fighting the good fight, and remain ever diligent against the encroachments of big government. We must do this if we wish to maintain our traditional standard of living in this country. As tempting as it may be to simply live our lives with no regard to government, apathy will inevitably be punished by ever more government intrusion. That is what this fight was all about. We can win if we stick together.

South American Union To Have Single Currency

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently revealed that the South American countries are planning for a common currency as part of the integration of the individual countries into the Union of South American Nations. This integration is patterned after the formation of the European Union, and parallels the plan for the North American Union.
The union of South American nations would create a trade block designed to be competitive with the European and North American trade blocks. Central to the formation of the union is the creation of a central bank to oversee the new common currency that would replace the currencies of the individual countries in the block. In a recent broadcast, President Lula stated that he sees the implementation of this plan as not being a fast one.
In his message, the president stressed the need to help the countries of South America that are economically weak, such as Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia. “We have to help them because the stronger the countries in South America economically are, the more tranquility, peace, democracy, trade, companies, jobs, incomes and development”, he is quoted at ((http://www.nuwireinvestor.com/articles/…) .
Another unfolding feature of the South American Union similar to that of the North American Union is its dependence on newly created infrastructure. The South American alliance will promote the cross-nation construction of railroads, highways, bridges and transmission lines that will connect the entire region resulting in smooth interaction and movement within the trading block. The NAFTA and CAFTA Superhighways epitomize the infrastructural development of the North American Union trading block.
The union plan also calls for a regional defense council, apparently the beginning of the imposition of a regional government. This council would resolve regional conflicts, promote military cooperation and allow for the regional coordination of weapons production, much as the military integration of Canada and the U.S. initiates the unification of governments in the North American Countries.
The plan to establish a new common currency for the Union of South American Nations is the latest development in the initiation of common currencies representative of multi-country trading blocks. The euro was the first trade block currency, established as part of the European Union. The amero is the name of what may be the North American Union’s counterpart to the euro, debuting after economic integration and homogenization of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada have been completed, at exchange rates that represent the lowered standard of living of the Americans and the Canadians.
Critics of the Union of South American Nations’ efforts to establish a common currency see it as playing right into the hands of the world banking cartel. The clustering and assimilation of currencies facilitates the eventual merger into a one world currency promoted by the Council on Foreign Relations and its political puppets. They see the move toward the South American Union with its single currency as easily fitting with the European Union and current efforts to establish the North American Union. Once the formation of these major trading blocks is completed, the next step would be the unification of the blocks into a one world government.
This one world government is sometimes referred to as the New World Order. The Council on Foreign Relations has openly stated that its intentions are to bring about the surrender of the sovereignty of the national independence of the U.S. with the aim of creating a one world government. The Council, referred to as CFR, has influence in all vital areas of American life and around the world. Members have run or are running the major media outlets including NBC, CBS, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and many other publications.
CFR members dominate the political world. U.S. presidents since Franklin Roosevelt have been CFR members, with the exception of Ronald Reagan. CFR members also dominate the academic world, top corporations, unions and the military. They are on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve. Barack Obama and John McCain are CFR members, as well as the Bushes and the Clintons. There are many corporate members of the CFR. CFR plans are not subject to the scrutiny, debate, or vote of the people. Discussion of the plans has been conspicuously absent from the endless debating of the presidential candidates.

First, it should be noted that Valley Watch has had the same position on I-69 and all other transport routes since the middle of the 1980s. We believe and support the proposition that ALL new transportation rights of way should be built using existing “corridors.”
Tom Tokarski, a long time I-69 activist with Citizens for Appropriate Rural Roads (CARR) went to the starting point of the new terrain route for I-69 yesterday, March 10 to visually record the initial destruction of land and homes the new highway will cause.
When he got there, camera in hand, at a location about two miles north of Interstate 64, just west of Indiana Hwy. 57 on Indiana Hwy 68, he was confronted by an Indiana State Trooper.
According to a release issued today by Tokarski’s group, “Tokarski went to the site to photograph the homes scheduled for demolition and was accosted by State Police. He was thoroughly interrogated, and his person and car were searched. This was for a perfectly legal activity, photographing homes while he was standing on a public roadway.”
This violation of Tokarski’s Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure cut me the wrong way since I have previously be subject to similar abuses by police in the area..
This afternoon, I got a call from my friend Jeff Stant asking me if I would go to the site this afternoon to see if I could get some video of what was taking place.
Asking a friend who works as an AP stringer to accompany me, since I did not know what to expect, we ventured to the site. The Video below is what we saw.

We did have a chance to speak tone of the workers about the scope of their project.
Obviously, they are really cutting down some trees all along Hwy. 68. The worker told us that they were mainly interested in the trees and they had to be cut at this time since the endangered Indiana Bat would be migrating to the area soon and possibly using the trees for nesting. If the trees were no longer there, the tiny mammal would find alternative locations and thus would not have their mating and nesting disturbed.
The worker went further and told us that they only had a contract to demolish two of the several homes where trees were being cut.
Otherwise, most of the area was going to be left as is, for the moment.
I-69 just in Indiana will cost ore than $4 billion according to CARR.
$700 million has been appropriated in Indiana to build the first section of the highway that originally was slated to build the highway from Evansville to Crane. But like power plants, the cost of highway construction has gone through the roof and street speculation is that the $700 million may only build as little as to an area between Washington and Petersburg.
Opposition to the highway continues to mount, not only in Indiana but also all along the route of the so called NAFTA highway. Opponents are really getting vociferous in Texas where citizens are up in arms over the road and the taking of farms and ranches that have existed since the middle 19th Century.

CNN host Lou Dobbs says that the New World Order can be defeated but only if “Americans awaken and soon,” as he attacked the Bush administration’s “shameless” destruction of U.S. sovereignty on a nationally syndicated radio show.
“What we have permitted in allowing the Bush administration to have effectively further reduced our sovereignty and respect for our laws and certainly regard for our borders and our ports – it’s been a shameless, shameless period in American history that we’re going to have to reverse,” Dobbs told the Alex Jones Show.
Dobbs said that if people did not wake up to the unfolding North American Union agenda as well as the Trans Texas Corridor under the banner of the Security and Prosperity partnership, then America could “kiss its future goodbye.”
The CNN host said that the New World Order could be defeated, but only if the American people awakened and did it soon.

Speaking on the subject of 9/11, Dobbs said the federal government had acted with deceit in failing to prevent the attack .
“We gave George Tenet a gold medal while the CIA failed to act intelligently or responsibly to stop that attack – I’m talking about a government that almost seven years after September 11th continues to leave our borders wide open and our ports insecure with 95% of what enters this country uninspected, it’s unconscionable,” said Dobbs.
During the interview, Dobbs also said that the U.S. economy is heading for a stagflation crisis as a result of the U.S. government’s policy of dollar depreciation and that the only solution is for the American people to restore a proper Constitutional system of government.
“We have the specter of stagflation staring at us coldly and inevitably right now,” said Dobbs, adding, “There’s no doubt that those who would degrade the sovereignty of this country would want to certainly the power, the strength, and the respect of the U.S. dollar and it is the last thing we should permit,” he concluded.

Two Illinois Congressmen are now proposing reforms to secure Social Security cards under the guise that these reforms will help against identification theft. This is ironic because this is the same excuse that Department of Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff used to justify the Real ID Act which mandates standardized Real ID compliant driver’s licenses. The Real ID Act is of course nothing short of a mandated national ID card system but like all government programs that erode liberty, they use the excuse that it is for the public good. Since the federal government has had a tremendous amount of difficulty implementing their national ID card agenda via the Real ID Act with states refusing to go along with the program, it appears as if they are now going with plan B to implement their national ID card agenda. If forcing states to make their driver’s license compliant with the Real ID standards fails, they will simply use these new so called secure Social Security cards as the national ID card. Even worse, we could have both a nationally standardized driver’s license and a nationally standardized Social Security card which will both serve as a national ID card.
These so called secure Social Security cards will be modeled after the Common Access Card issued by the Department of Defense to members of the military. These identification cards contain a photograph, fingerprint, computer chip, bar code and magnetic strip. In effect these new cards will in fact be a national ID card because it is standardized, contains personal biometric data and a picture. The notion that these new cards will protect against identification theft is ridiculous. These cards have more data on them and as a result, if a card does get compromised it opens up an even larger can of worms. These new cards will contain even more of your personal information on them and could be ripe for abuse by tech savvy criminals. The proposal requires anyone over the age of 15 to have one of these new Social Security cards. So the vast majority of the population would be forced to accept one of these new cards.
Why should we trust the government with more of our information? In 2006, sensitive information of military veterans stored on a laptop was incompetently mishandled by the VA. Over in the UK, the government mishandled information on millions of taxpayers. The incompetence of government is proven and we should resist any effort by the government to demand more information from us. These new Social Security cards are just another incremental step by the establishment to further enslave the American people.
Strangely enough, the press conference announcing this proposal was held on February 11th, 2008. On January 11th 2008, Chertoff made the announcement that individuals with non-compliant Real ID driver’s licenses would be subjected to additional security screenings. The deadline for this to take effect is May 11th, 2008. It is clear that these people have some sort of sick obsession with the number 11. Maybe they think they get great power out of announcing and implementing great evil on the 11th day of a month.

These events follow the phony media-contrived “outrage” over comments made by Oscar winning actress Marion Cotillard.
After the comments, which are reportedly a year old, were hyped by the mainstream media, it quickly became apparent that a manufactured frenzy was in full swing when some newspapers wrote false reports claiming Cotillard had retracted her comments and apologized.
It is clear that this move was designed to foster a default position media response when it comes to any future story involving 9/11 truth.

President George W. Bush criticized Democratic presidential candidates on Thursday for suggesting the United States could “opt out” of the North American Free Trade Agreement and urged Congress to boost U.S. exports by approving a trade deal with Colombia.
“There are a lot of farmers and businesses, large and small, who are benefiting from having a market in our neighborhood. And the idea of just unilaterally withdrawing from a trade treaty because of, you know, trying to score political points is not good policy,” Bush said during a White House press conference.
During a presidential campaign debate earlier this week in Ohio, both Democratic Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama criticized NAFTA and said the United States could opt out of the agreement if Mexico and Canada don’t agree to renegotiate labor, environmental and investment provisions of the pact.
The candidates were responding to the strong view of many Ohio voters that the 14-year-old agreement is responsible for many manufacturing job losses in that state, which holds a crucial presidential voting contest on Tuesday.
Bush warned withdrawing from the pact would hurt U.S. farmers and businesses who export around $380 billion worth of goods to Canada and Mexico each year and said a signal that the United States does not honor its trade commitments.
Canadian and Mexican official have also expressed alarm at the idea of renegotiating the pact.
“It would be like throwing a monkey wrench into the engine of North American competitiveness,” Arturo Sarukhan, Mexico’s ambassador to the United States, told the Financial Times in a story published on Thursday.
Bush also warned that congressional rejection of an unpopular free trade pact with Colombia would damage U.S. national security interests in the Latin American region and said he expected lawmakers to vote on the pact soon.
“The Colombia free trade vote is coming up,” Bush said.

What thrilling rallies we’ve just had in Texas. First there were the Students for Ron Paul at the University of Texas in Austin. The media said 4,000 came. Our people think there were more like 7,000. In any event, it was a very enthusiastic gathering of our revolutionaries, as even the media admitted.
You will not be surprised to know that the young people there cheered the pure message of liberty: no preemptive wars, no Federal Reserve, no income tax, no police state, no drug war. Just American liberty and the Constitution, in the tradition of the framers.
But the rally in Killeen, though much smaller, may have been just as significant. Killeen is near Fort Hood, and among the 300 people who attended were many active-duty soldiers (though not in uniform) and their families. Whether it was the young man going back to Iraq for his fourth tour, or the sister of a soldier just killed there, they all wanted change in our foreign policy. Most heartbreaking was the young mother who asked for a signed copy of the Constitution for her son, “who will never know his dad.” He too was just killed in Iraq.
How can we ask one young American to die for a neocon empire? The soldiers and their families agree with us, which is why our campaign gets more financial support from active-duty and retired military than all the rest combined. They want to defend America, not be part of some globalist scheme to take away our country’s independence. And by the way, at both rallies, nobody was for the monstrous Trans-Texas Corridor or the North American Union.
Coming up soon are the Texas and Ohio primaries, with others like Pennsylvania not long afterwards. We are contesting every one, and we will be heard at the Republican national convention in Minneapolis and beyond. Ron Paul’s Neo-Con rival Chris Peden has resorted to putting out fake poll numbers in a crass attempt to offset the fact that Paul is trouncing him in the race for Texas’ District 14 Congressional seat.
According to Ron Paul’s congressional campaign manager Mark Elam, the Congressman holds a healthy 72% to 11% lead over Peden, up from 60% last month following the purchase of $400,000 worth of TV ads now running in the district.
In addition, District 14 polls show that 80 per cent of residents have never even heard of Peden.
Asked why Peden’s office was putting out false polls showing him 10 points ahead of Paul, Elam said, “Our Democratic opponent said the same thing last year – I think we won by 20 points. These guys are doing so poorly that they have to put out false numbers.”
I have personally overseen 4 different political surveys in district 14 in recent weeks,” writes Elam, “All 4 surveys have shown the same results: Ron Paul has a high favorable rating and high marks on his job approval. And if the election were held today, 60+ percent of the GOP voters say they would vote to reelect Ron Paul, while only 18-20% chose Peden. The remaining 20% or so say they are undecided or refuse to give an answer to these scientific and statistically accurate surveys.”
Chris Peden’s Neo-Con platform brazenly advocates occupying the Middle East for “the remainder of the century,” maintaining a close alliance with Israel, and spending taxpayer’s money on imperial expansionism, including the continued occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Since such positions are anathema to the Constitution and the vision of the founding fathers, it’s no surprise that Ron Paul is set to hammer Peden and has dwarfed his fundraising, raking in $500,000 in the past month compared to Peden’s pathetic $20,000.
The Ron Paul campaign recently decided to shift some campaigning efforts into safeguarding Paul’s Congressional seat after Peden broke a promise not to run against Paul during his presidential bid.

The criminals in the U.S. government are continuing the push for a militarized North American Union police state. According to an announcement on U.S. Northern Command’s web site, an agreement has been signed between U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) and Canada Command (CANADACOM) that allows the military from either nation to support the armed forces of the other during a civil emergency. This agreement helps to further erode the sovereignty of both nations by allowing a foreign military to support that nation’s military during any type of civil emergency. Essentially, Canadian military forces would be allowed to support U.S. military forces during a declaration of martial law. This is just another step towards the formation of a North American Union martial law apparatus which USNORTHCOM unveiled with the public release of their Vision 2020 document_ The Vision 2020 document outlines plans for USNORTHCOM to seek closer ties with various military institutions, government bodies and private entities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico leading up until the year 2020.

U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, and Canadian Air Force Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command, have signed a Civil Assistance Plan that allows the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency.
“This document is a unique, bilateral military plan to align our respective national military plans to respond quickly to the other nation’s requests for military support of civil authorities,” Renuart said. “Unity of effort during bilateral support for civil support operations such as floods, forest fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and effects of a terrorist attack, in order to save lives, prevent human suffering and mitigate damage to property, is of the highest importance, and we need to be able to have forces that are flexible and adaptive to support rapid decision-making in a collaborative environment.”
“The signing of this plan is an important symbol of the already strong working relationship between Canada Command and U.S. Northern Command,” Dumais said. “Our commands were created by our respective governments to respond to the defense and security challenges of the twenty-first century, and we both realize that these and other challenges are best met through cooperation between friends.”
The plan recognizes the role of each nation’s lead federal agency for emergency preparedness, which in the United States is the Department of Homeland Security and in Canada is Public Safety Canada. The plan facilitates the military-to-military support of civil authorities once government authorities have agreed on an appropriate response. U.S. Northern Command was established on Oct. 1, 2002, to anticipate and conduct homeland defense and civil support operations within the assigned area of responsibility to defend, protect, and secure the United States and its interests.
Similarly, Canada Command was established on Feb. 1, 2006, to focus on domestic operations and to offer a single point of contact for all domestic and continental defense and security partners.
The two domestic commands established strong bilateral ties well before the signing of the Civil Assistance Plan. The two commanders and their staffs meet regularly, collaborate on contingency planning and participate in related annual exercises.
If the establishment was really supportive of protecting U.S. national sovereignty why on earth would they allow USNORTHCOM to establish an agreement with Canada that allows their military to support our military during civil emergencies? This is a direct violation of each nation’s sovereignty and another obvious step towards a North American Union.
Clearly, the U.S. government is ratcheting up their plans for martial law and using the phony threat of homegrown terrorism as an excuse to implement their militarized police state agenda. The threat of martial law is finally now being reported in the establishment media. The San Francisco Chronicle recently ran a report on plans for martial law which covers important issues such as Bush’s NSPD-51 which makes the president a dictator during a catastrophic emergency, HR 1955 which classifies thought crimes as potential terrorist acts, KBR detention centers, the Military Commission Act and more. We broke the NSPD-51 and HR 1955 stories last year and both have been major topics of conversation in the alternative media for quite sometime.
There is no question that the U.S. government is preparing for martial law domestically, but the long term goal is to establish a martial law apparatus for North America. They are merely beginning the implementation of what has been announced in the Vision 2020 document_ There is little question that this deal between USNORTHCOM and CANADACOM is another step towards forming a North American Union that is ruled by a militarized police state.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney convincingly won the Maine Republican caucus tonight with about 52% of the vote.
The current GOP front-runner, Arizona Sen. John McCain, is running a distant second with 22% and Rep. Ron Paul, the libertarian-minded longshot, is in a very close third with 19% of the vote. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is trailing badly with only 5%.
With nearly two-thirds of the votes counted, Maine Republican Party Vice Chairman Scott Kauffman said, “It is very sure that former Gov. Romney wins the contest.”
Although Maine does not carry the political clout of many other states, it could provide a helpful psychological boost going into nearly two dozen crucial Super Tuesday contests this week for Romney’s forces, who lost to McCain in Florida, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Nearly half the delegates necessary to win the Republican nomination will be chosen Tuesday.
In a statement tonight, Romney, who was campaigning today in the upper Midwest after attending the funeral of Gordon Hinckley, the president of the Mormon church, in Salt Lake City, said, “Today the people of Maine joined those from across the nation in casting their vote for conservative change in Washington.”
The actual number of Maine delegates he won in the non-binding caucuses will be determined at a state convention in May.
It was a disappointing night for Ron Paul. The campaign of the 72-year-old, 10-term congressman from Texas with the well-financed campaign had hoped to pull an upset in independent-minded Maine. And he did come close to embarrassing McCain for second place, which Paul also won in the Louisiana and Nevada caucuses.
Maine Democrats hold their statewide caucuses next weekend.

Texas Congressman Dr. Ron Paul scored a stunning upset win over all three of his opponents in the Aroostook County Presidential Preference Survey during the weekend caucuses just concluded. It also would appear that Dr. Paul’s supporters won the lion’s share of the delegate seats to the Maine Republican Convention in early May from the county.
There were 3 undecided voters in Aroostook County with regard to the presidential preference. This vote is a non-binding survey merely intended to indicate Maine Republicans’ preference for President. Delegates were also selected for many towns to the Republican State Convention.
Aroostook County volunteer coordinator of the Ron Paul 2008 effort, and Vice-chairman of the county Republicans, Steve Martin of Amity, had this to say about the upset results. “I love Aroostook County people. They are the most independent-minded and deeply-considerate folks in Maine. It is clear that Dr. Paul’s message of reduced government, lower taxes, personal liberties and non-interference in the internal matters of other nations struck a cord here in Aroostook County. Dr. Paul’s opposition to a Northern Maine National Park coupled with his deep respect for private property and gun rights also played a part in sweeping all three caucus locations.”
The county Republicans will be meeting again for their regular monthly meetings at the Presque Isle Inn & Convention Center on Saturday morning, February 16th at 9:00 AM.

Ron Paul, the conservative Texas congressman and long-shot presidential hopeful, pulled off a small and symbolic upset in Bergen County today by winning a straw poll leading up to Super Tuesday.
The vote, sponsored by the Bergen County Republican Organization, drew more than 100 people to Hackensack, and included a boisterous contingent of Paul supporters, many from outside Bergen County. They listened to four representatives for the four remaining GOP contenders before casting votes, giving Paul a 52-40 victory over Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney placed third with 27 votes, while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee got just one vote.
Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) spoke on behalf of McCain (R-Ariz.) and like others, invoked the memory of Ronald Reagan and wore a tie given to him by the former president embroidered with the words “democracy is not a spectator sport.”
He used that as a transition, saying McCain “is a man resolved to do first and foremost what is best for this country no matter the cost to him politically.”
State Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) stumped for Romney and, echoing a feeling from many of the old Republican guard in the room, said it was time to focus on the two “serious” GOP candidates, McCain and Romney.
However it was the Paul supporters who yelled the loudest, waived the most signs and eventually cast the most ballots.

U.S. Plans Outline a Subsidized Pan-American Highway

U.S. Title Code TITLE 23 > CHAPTER 2 > § 212 provides for the construction and maintenance of the Inter-American Highway program in cooperation with the Governments of the American Republics in Central America (i.e. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama).
“Title 23 of the US Code as currently published by the US Government reflects the laws passed by Congress as of Jan. 2, 2006.”
Under the code, the United States essentially pays for up to one-third of the total construction costs (depending on each nation’s wealth):
(a) Not to exceed one-third of the appropriation authorized for each fiscal year may be expended without requiring the country or countries in which such funds may be expended to match any part thereof, if the Secretary of State shall find that the cost of constructing said highway in such country or countries will be beyond their reasonable capacity to bear.
The U.S. also agrees to provide all the maintenance costs:
(5) will provide for the maintenance of said highway after its completion in condition adequately to serve the needs of present and future traffic.
The U.S. has cooperated with Latin America on highway systems since the first Pan American Highway Congress in Buenos Aires in 1925, but footing all the costs for infrastructure can’t be a good sign for expanded globalization to come.
This acceleration of hemispheric-consolidation only correlates with the passage CAFTA in the Central American States and the passage of ‘free trade’ agreements with Panama, Peru and Columbia during 2007. Further, Condoleezza Rice and President Bush have hailed the significant steps towards the broader ‘vision’ of a Pan-American Community.
“The founding ideal of our Pan-American Community, borne across many centuries and carried by us still, is the hope that life in the hemisphere would signify a break with the Old World, and a new beginning for all mankind,” Secretary Rice told the C.F.R. and the Organization of American States in October 2007.
“We now have the potential to create an unbroken chain of trading partners from Tierra del Fuego to the Arctic Circle,” Rice said to the OAS.
Vicente Fox has also advocated not only the North American Union, but hinted at a unified currency throughout the Americas sometime in the future during an appearance on Larry King Live.
An unbroken chain of trading partners– under ever-expanding ‘free trade’ blocs (yes, an oxymoron)– would certainly go hand-in-hand with an inter-connected, well-maintained highway– but subsidizing the expenses is no route to equal or independent nations inside a community, but rather a formula for guaranteeing centralized regional control.
That’s not to say that free travel and reasonably safe and convenient travel is not a worthwhile goal, but certainly many are concerned about the implications such a smaller hemisphere would mean for employment and wages. Even Mexican farmers are now protesting free trade, illegal immigration and the effects of NAFTA, a position American farmers likely never steered from.
Meanwhile, Mexico has already announced its intention to microchip migrant workers coming from Central and South America and other places.
L. Ronald Scheman, founder of the Pan American Development foundation and Senior Advisor to Kissinger McLarty Associates proposes that opportunities to harmonize the Americas can lead to long-term integration along the same route taken by the E.U.— early on, the E.U. was nothing more than a Coal and Steel Community which eventually solidified unification:
“To him, the strategy was clear. ‘This proposal [for a coal and steel community] has an essential political objective: to make a breach in the ramparts of national sovereignty, which will be narrow enough to secure consent — but deep enough to open the way toward the unity that is essential to peace [and we might add, for our purposes in the Americas, for development].'”

NASCO Wrong On Paul’s NAFTA Highway Claims

The North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition (NASCO) continues to deceive the American public on the issue of the NAFTA superhighway. In a letter written to the Des Moines Register, NASCO’s executive director, Tiffany Melvin counters a piece written by Congressman Ron Paul published in the Des Moines Register in which the Congressman briefly mentions the NAFTA superhighway. It is a proven fact that the NAFTA superhighway already exists as I-35 but Melvin states that there are no plans for a new NAFTA superhighway. While that is true, that statement is ridiculous considering that NASCO openly admits that the NAFTA superhighway exists as I-35 on their web site. The Alberta government also confirms that I-35 is the NAFTA superhighway on a graphical map of the U.S. and Canada on their infrastructure and transportation web site. Considering the mission of NASCO and other associated groups to expand and improve these highways, this leaves little question that the NAFTA superhighway is I-35 and will be expanded and improved upon in order to form the finalized version of this continental highway system connecting Mexico, U.S. and Canada. Melvin’s argument is the equivalent of arguing against people who say the Statue of Liberty exists by stating that there are no plans to build a new Statue of Liberty. As insane as that sounds, that is the argument Melvin is making.
Ron Paul states the following regarding the NAFTA superhighway in his article.
We should also reclaim our national sovereignty by first securing our borders. By now, many have heard about the proposed “NAFTA Superhighway.” This superhighway would connect Mexico, the United States and Canada, cutting a wide swath through the middle of Texas and through Kansas City. One proposed path takes the superhighway right through Iowa. This superhighway can be built only by sacrificing family farms through eminent domain.
In response Melvin states the following.
Paul states the NAFTA superhighway will cut a wide swath through Iowa. For decades, I-35 has carried international trade with Canada, the United States and Mexico. Since the enactment of NAFTA, people have referred to the existing I-35 with the slogan “NAFTA superhighway” because it is a major north-south artery that moves a substantial amount of international trade.
Recently, there have been rumors of a new NAFTA superhighway – a giant new highway being planned to link the three countries – and North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition Inc.’s promotional map has been used erroneously as proof that a blueprint of the proposed giant highway is, in fact, a reality.
NASCO can state unequivocally that plans for a new giant NAFTA superhighway do not exist. Our map depicts existing transportation infrastructure not drawn to scale, but enlarged for promotional purposes.
Paul is confused and has tied separate initiatives together into a sinister plot to destroy the sovereignty of the United States. NASCO has nothing to do with any of his concerns. NASCO is good for Iowa.
What Melvin doesn’t understand is that nobody is saying that there are plans for a new NAFTA superhighway. The proposal consists of using and expanding I-35 as the NAFTA superhighway. If Paul is confused about this proposed NAFTA superhighway, why is it that information on various North American trade corridors and the NAFTA superhighway is available on various government web sites? Why is it that on NASCO’s web site it states that the NAFTA superhighway already exists as I-35? It is hard to believe that the executive director of NASCO is unfamiliar with what is posted on their web site.
Private organizations like the North American Forum On Integration, CANAMEX as well as different government institutions openly discuss the NAFTA superhighway proposal and other continental superhighways to facilitate the movement of goods between the three nations. These continental superhighways will be expanded under the guise of eminent domain where many U.S. citizens could risk losing their property in the name of public good. Earlier this year, Australian toll road giant Macquarie agreed to purchase forty local newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma in order to silence critics of NAFTA superhighway expansion. Macquarie has already joined with Spanish company Cintra in a 75-year lease of 157 miles of Indiana highway. This is just a small part of a diabolical plan by traitors within our own government to sell highway infrastructure that is owned by American taxpayers over to foreign investors. These foreign investors will no doubt profit greatly from the tolls they will collect on these roads.
These proposed North American trade corridors including the NAFTA superhighway are foundational building blocks towards the formation of an eventual North American Union. The Security and Prosperity Partnership outlines plans to merge and harmonize policies between all three North American nations that will be overseen by non governmental organizations and unelected bureaucrats.
All of this information makes Melvin’s argument of no new NAFTA superhighway a ridiculous assertion. There already is a NAFTA superhighway and nobody is saying that there are plans for a new NAFTA superhighway. The American people and Dr. Paul are concerned that the control of these roads are being transferred to foreign investors and that people’s property will be seized under eminent domain when these highways are expanded. Melvin’s statements are insulting to the intelligence of any free thinking person and she should stop spreading propaganda and lies in order to hide the true nature of what NASCO is a part of.

The Ties That Bind Rick Perry & Rudy Giuliani

As Texas Governor Rick Perry goes on the road to stump for Giuliani’s campaign, it is increasingly clear that the two figureheads not only share a penchant for presiding over thinly-veiled corruption, but do their presiding in the same globalist circles.
Perry’s appearance at the secretive Bilderberg meeting in 2007 gives credence to whispers about the Texas Governor becoming a GOP running mate alongside Giuliani, even as Perry denies interest in being VP. Bilderberg has a noted and well-deserved reputation as kingmaker.
Together, Rick Perry, as Governor, and Rudy Giuliani, as a named partner in the Houston-based Bracewell & Giuliani, have been instrumental in selling off Texas infrastructure and utilities while ushering in agents of globalism and (North American Union) regional control.
TRANS-TEXAS CORRIDOR
Giuliani’s law firm is heavily tied to Rick Perry’s Texas-style ‘Big Dig’– a highly contentious and very real Trans-Texas Corridor that has foreign firms building up on land seized in the face of opposition from both the state legislature and the people.
Bracewell & Giuliani is exclusively representing the Spanish-owned Cintra and essentially won the contract to build the first ever private toll road in Texas. The Online Journal refers to Bracewell & Giuliani as “the ‘guiding’ law firm on the privatization of Texas State Highway 121”
Cintra is further partnered with the Australian company Macquarie, who “previously acquired the business and assets of an investment bank known as Giuliani Capital Advisors,” according to Cliff Kincaid who further observes:
Terri Hall, founder and director of Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF), notes that Giuliani clients with an interest in acquiring Texas roads and infrastructure have also invested in his presidential campaign. She comments, “This could explain why Giuliani has spent so much time fundraising in Texas. The monied proponents of the Trans-Texas Corridor, of which there are many, would like to see this man become President.“
Perry’s advocacy for the TTC has been unwavering and he has refused to back down even after the legislature passed a two-year moratorium. Perry called in U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters to lobby against the moratorium while publicly declaring that there is no alternative to toll roads (Peters has, of course, been present at a number of NAFTA super-highway meetings as well).
Bracewell & Giuliani gave Rick Perry $20,000 in PAC money in the 2006 cycle. Current Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott was also a partner in Bracewell & Giuliani, which Lobby Watch suggests was related to his run for office after stepping down from the Texas Supreme Court. He received $25,000 in PAC contributions in the 2006 cycle.
TxU BUYOUT
As we previously reported, the ‘largest ever’ buyout of TxU (now slashed from $45 billion to $32 billion) was managed by KKR, who are represented annually at Bilderberg by partner Henry Kravis.
“Energy Future bought TXU Corp. in a $32 billion leveraged buyout that closed in October. It was formed by Kohlberg, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., TPG, formerly Texas Pacific Group, and other investors,” reports the Dallas Morning News.
The deal stalled over environmental issues with TxU’s plans for new coal plants, but never faltered thanks to cheerleading by Rick Perry as well as personal appearances by Henry Kravis, who is known as a virtuoso in the world of leveraged buyouts (see Barbarians at the Gate which dramatizes his infamous high-priced buyout with R.J. Reynolds and also features a younger but no less-aged Fred Thompson).
Governor Perry was involved in facilitating the TxU buyout, including the issuance of an executive order to instigate fast-track approval for TxU plant deals:
“Last year, after private meetings with TXU executives, Perry fast-tracked the permitting process for TXU’s 11-plant expansion through an executive order, slashing the time frame in half, to six months….”
“The bottom line: Only Governor Perry and TXU, which stands to make a lot of money, are championing these plants.”
Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse First Boston (both deeply nested in Bilderberg) were also involved in the deal while Bracewell & Giuliani represented TxU (as they handle a number of energy companies). A number of criminal insider trading cases involving Pakistani financiers working inside these firms– including Hafiz Naseem– have already been prosecuted as a result of the buyout. Others, still under investigation, are potentially outstanding.
In fact, Hafiz Naseem, then a Credit Suisse investor, was defended by Bracewell & Giuliani’s Marc Mukasey, who is the son of U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey. Bracewell’s Mukasey commented that the “case is inference built on inference built on inference.” However, prosecutors were investigating other links to alleged inside trading that went as high as Pakistani Prime Minister Aziz, who is also a former Citigroup chairman. Investigators also believe there was a link to al Qaeda money laundering.
MEXICO
And what about Mexico? If a continent-wide merger is underway, it seems to coincide with the cozy relationship Perry and Vicente Fox had as contemporaries. As WND reports, the vision to expand the Corridor into Mexico is heavily discussed and well under way.
On May 24, Gonzáles Parás announced during his recent meetings in Austin, Perry had agreed the envisioned Trans North America Corridor would pass through Laredo and connect with San Antonio, just as Mexico ultimately planned to extend the superhighway south into Colombia.
Note also that the current U.S. ambassador to Mexico is none other than Bracewell & Giuliani partner Tony Garza (who is, incidentally, married to Mexico’s richest woman, billionaire Grupo Modelo heiress María Asunción Aramburuzabala).
